In the recent weeks, we’ve had the privilege to connect with some incredible artists, creatives, entrepreneurs and rabble rousers and we can’t begin to express how impressed we are with the incredible group below.

When winter came and we couldn’t sell kettle corn, a Christmas tree lot setup in the same parking lot. I went to the owner and asked for a job and got one at $8 an hour in 2015. These memories led me to do the same thing in SC. I went to a Christmas tree lot on Lincolnville Road called “Holidays at Mistletoe Lane” and asked for a job on the weekends between my construction schedule just for fun. I quickly became his best worker due to my experience and work ethic and we formed a friendship we still have to this day. Read More>>

Even as a child, I loved being on the square in Edgefield and listening to senior males talk about the war and anything that was the topic of the day. One of the biggest early influences in my life was my Grandma “Ama,” Lois Lular Griffis Neel. My grandfather’s, Fred Hurley Neel was a solider from Virginia, who met my grandma while stationed in the miliarity in Columbia. To this day the mountains of Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia just speak to my heart. Interesting enough my wife’s family was not too far away from his home place. It is always such a joy to be in those mountains. Read More>>

Then, 4 years ago we moved to Myrtle Beach and I expanded the company to South Carolina. Myrtle Beach & Charleston brought night clubs, concerts, festivals, etc. I soon found a love for House/ Club/ EDM music. I also soon found requests from all over the country to play for them. Last year, I opened for ALABAMA, MC’s for ESPN, DJ’d for Broadway at the Beach, Lexus USA, CCU, Univ of SC and so many more. I truly have found my voice and passion in music…..and just goes to show, you can start a dream at any age. Read More>>

While writing my stories, I traversed across the hills of Scotland and ended up finding much more than just the standing stones and the beautiful highlands; I found myself. I uncovered the programing and the generational trauma that had been holding me and my family back. Since then, I have become a trauma-informed yoga teacher, a non-alcoholic beverage consultant and a memoir writing coach in order to help other women work their way through their shadow work and take on their lives with my mindfulness, clarity, confidence, and authenticity. I was 19 when I first stepped into the world of oyster harvesting, introduced by a friend. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with it. There’s something profound about spending your days deep in a creek, surrounded by pluff mud and salty air, knowing you might be the first person to walk those marshes since the Native Americans did. Out there, far from the chaos of everyday life, all that exists are the oysters, the water, and a clear mind. Read More>>

Years later, I received another camera as a birthday gift, and it reignited my passion for capturing the world around me. As a huge nature lover, I’ve always found peace and solitude in the great outdoors, developing a deep connection with Mother Earth. Whether it was hiking through forests, exploring parks, or simply observing the beauty of nature, I always had my camera with me. There was something special about capturing those spontaneous moments-whether it was the way light played through trees or the movement of wildlife. Photography became a way for me to not only document my experiences but share the quiet, powerful beauty of the natural world with others. Read More>>

The first question most people ask me is why the name “One-Eyed Dog Studios.” I wanted to do something a little different than other photographers and not just use my own name. We had a very sweet, one-eyed rescue dog named Rogue. And I do not have what you would think of as a typical photo studio either. As a visual story teller of nature around Aiken, I think of all the locations I visit and enjoy – even my front yard – as one of my living studios. Read More>>

Founding Leveling the Fields felt like the natural culmination of these elements. As a former athlete and someone who’s seen the transformative impact of sports, I recognized the barriers many young girls face when it comes to participation—whether those challenges are access, affordability, or opportunities to develop leadership skills. Every step of my journey has shaped me into who I am, from growing up in an entrepreneurial household to my education and professional roles. I’m excited to continue growing Leveling the Fields and expanding opportunities for the next generation of young leaders. Read More>>

For as long as I can remember – the place I felt I was the best version of myself was on the back of a horse. From age 4, I could be found at a local barn in Massachusetts as often as possible, assisting with whatever chores needed to be completed for a little extra saddle time. There were years of hard work, sweat, tears and broken hearts but if horses teach you anything, it is about grit, determination and a little luck. I knew early on that training horses was not going to be the avenue I pursued, but I hoped that someday, working with horses would find it’s way back to me. Read More>>

Originally from Chicago, IL, currently living in Charleston, SC. I became an artist by way of interior design. As much as I love interiors, painting is the thing I cannot stop doing- even if I try! I was born and raise in Puerto Rico. I lived most of my childhood and adolescence in Mayaguez, a west coast municipality of PR. After graduating high school in 2005, I wanted to attend a Communications College in San Juan, but growing up in a less than middle class household, with 3 other siblings, I didn’t have the money to pay for tuition. After enrolling in a community college and completing one semester, I realize that this was not exactly what I wanted. Especially not the program I would have prefer on completing. So after dropping college on my second semester of my first year, in 2006, I enlisted in the U.S Army as an 11X recruit. Read More>>

Intrigued, I bought one for Ross after researching what their natural environment and requirements were. Once we understood the simple rules for growing them (like in gremlins ha ha), our plant flourished into a bushy pot of flytraps. After a few years, we expanded our already growing collection to include our first sundew (Drosera) and North American pitcher plant (Sarracenia). Read More>>

The Therapy Place started as the dream of my friend, Susan Abell, and myself. We were each raising a son with cerebral palsy. My biggest hurdle has been dealing with negative comments and trolls. I think that comes with the territory, with vulnerability comes people who want to tear you down. But the other biggest challenge is one I feel most mothers will understand and that is balancing it all. I spent most of my childhood being a writer. It started out with writing notes to my dad and turned into poetry, short stories, and journals. My oldest brother was a massage therapist already after dropping out of a four year college, so I decided to skip all of that and go straight to a trade school. I wanted to provide insight, tools, and resources to help others figure out how to navigate—or even begin—this long-term, transformative journey.
