Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Slater Jr.
Marvin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into photography got started by first me taking pictures of myself you know selfies. Then that’s when it came to me and I said let me give photography a try. When I first brought my camera it was collecting dust because I wasn’t sure how I would do this. Then after researching and playing around with my camera that’s when I developed more and more into taking it seriously and turning it into a business opportunity for me
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has its ups and downs that’s for sure. It was a time where people was looking but they weren’t booking and that did hurt. But one thing I said to myself was stay strong stay positive and stay consistent because you’re artwork will reach the right people
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do all kinds of photography nature events sports birthdays everything I haven’t done a wedding yet but I plan on it in the future. I would say I am known for my style and creativity with my clients when a client books me for a session and needs my help we come together and we throw different ideas out there we have fun with it then we go create the artwork. I am most proud of how far I have come and still going staying consistent with your craft can take you a long way. What sets me apart is my style of work my work isn’t meant to look like nobody else’s work and my artwork is unique which makes you feel like you are the star that you are
How do you think about luck?
My team the team and the people that I have come to meet my instructor Mrs Amanda Worthy has teach me so much and pushed me to higher grounds with it. My creative director has a great mindset and my assistants are always there to help me with there creativity as well
