Today we’d like to introduce you to Tashia Terry.

Tashia Terry

Hi Tashia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

Growing up as a child, attending college or being a business owner wasn’t a realistic expectation. However, as a child, I knew something about me differed from others I was around. I had this drive that I could not explain, and the way I saw the world was so different from others. I had a great childhood full of love; however, at times, my childhood was tough my parents divorced and my mother took on challenges that came with being a single mother raising three children. I knew I wanted better for my future children, and it was up to me to break this generational cycle. I knew education was the key to breaking our family generational cycle. I applied myself at school and was the first person in my family to graduate from high school. I then decided that I wanted to set the bar high for my future children and go to college in the nursing field. I was then able to put myself through college, working two jobs. While working as a certified nursing assistant, I noticed that when caring for my patients, one of the many things that brought them joy was seeing my uniforms.

The patients would discuss how they loved my different uniform styles and colors. The love of my uniforms gave my patients something to look forward to seeing and discussing every day, and this would help to take their minds off the illnesses they were battling. Seeing how my uniforms brought light into my patients’ lives planted my dream to become an entrepreneur in the medical uniform business. If uniform styles and colors help put a smile on their faces and ease some of the stress they are going through, then this is a dream I would love to pursue one day. When the pandemic came, it opened my eyes to many realities. One of the biggest was that tomorrow isn’t promised to us, and we can not take life for granted. I then decided that I was going to step out on faith, follow my dreams, and become a medical uniform retailer. I also wanted my children and others to know that you can be anything you want if you put God first and apply yourself.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Being an entrepreneur has been a challenging road. I am met with challenges daily. Getting contracts from uniform companies in the medical uniform industry can be challenging. Obtaining business 2 business contracts can also be difficult because companies are comfortable with vendors that they have used in the past.  This challenge prevents me from showing them the benefits of having a partnership with my company. Another challenge that I faced was creating a business website, keeping up with inventory, and uploading all of my merchandise on the website. These were unprecedented tasks, but through hard work and drive, I was able to accomplish these tasks on my own. In the moments when I am struggling, I remind myself that this is a journey that God put me on, and the obstacles were meant for me to go through, and with God by my side I know that all of my hard work and dedication is going to be worth it one day.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. I started as a nursing assistant. I later returned to school and became a licensed practical nurse and registered nurse. I am currently a family nurse practitioner. I have been a nurse practitioner for over 5 years. God has blessed me with many blessings to be proud of and grateful for. Some of the things I am proud of are my family (including my church family), friends, my business, my career, and just being able to live and love life. What sets me apart from others is that I give 110% of myself in everything I do. I will always treat people how I want to be treated, whether on a personal or business level. I will do everything in my power to ensure you have excellent service for my business, and if there is a problem, I will correct it immediately.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?

Sometimes in life, you do have to go outside the box and take risks. If I didn’t take a risk on myself, then I would not be where I am today. Taking risks also empowers others to take risks and gives them the courage to step outside their routine.
