Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Challenges for me began with my parents divorce leading to financial difficulties that affected my options and every decision thereafter. I developed juvenile rheumatoid arthritis that crippled me for a while. I was told I would never dance again, so I started acting. I had to gain strength and determination to overcome these challenges. I graduated with a BA in dance and became a national champion in profesisional american rhythm despite the diagnosis. I learned humans are born with 5 basic needs- survival, love/ belonging, power, freedom, and fun. We control our thoughts and brain. We have a vision of what we imagine for ourselves. I always needed to reach out to people that they want in their quality world. Behavior is made up of acting, thinking, feeling, and physiology. Complaining, blaming, and criticizing are self-defeating and ineffective and are not listened to in my brain. I believe homeopathic, diet, and kinesiology should be the first treatments attempted and exhausted before moving to other forms. This has always gotten me through tough times. Dedication to health, fitness and a clean lifestyle is key. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and had a double mastectomy. I used this same thought process to get through and continue to perform in both acting and dance today.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was determined and ambitious. I graduated high school one year early, landing me in college at 16 years old. I have always worked when others were playing and I have missed many holidays to prepare for an event, show or performance. I love the feeling of challenging the body to do things that the average person may think is impossible. We are capable of amazing things when we set our mind to it. I believe that when you are tired, hungry and hurt, the most amazing art can emerge. Leave your comfort zone was our college motto and I live that every day. WHen you are in comfort, you are not moving. You must go to that place when you feel scared, awkward and take the chance. If things do not go your way, at least you tried and have an experience to have learned from. The next time we emerge, better, more powerful. Success is the process and the mark left for having lived here.
