Sonia Elliott is an East Coast Makeup Artist living in the Summerville, South Carolina area. She started her Professional journey in 2009 and continues to thrive in the Industry. My career flourished while serving my Community in Law Enforcement as a Community Service Officer, retiring in January 2023 from the Mount Pleasant Police Department. Always having an eye for art, she began pursuing her career as an Artist by enrolling at the Academy Of Cosmetology in North Charleston, SC, and is presently a Licensed Esthetician soon after she began working as a Freelance Makeup Artist for Mac Cosmetics in 2009 to 2013 in Charleston, SC. Sonia Elliott established her mobile Makeup Service Company, naming it “ Makeup By Sonia E.” It serviced many clients in Bridal, High Fashion, Film, Television, Print, and Photo Shoots. The Business was renamed “ Artistry by Sonia E” but is now registered as “ Sonia Elliott Brows & Beauty LLC. The art of enhancement and transformation has always been a passion of Sonia’s since childhood. “ I love that my Clients become my biggest fans and friends, establishing a long-lasting relationship. “ Sonia Elliott has worked with several photographers such as Patricia Washington, Sirena White, Kim Craven, Jason Cordes, Michael Mulligan, J. Hooker, Rich Singleton, Darryl Johnson, Bryce Lafoon, Anthony Paderewski and many more. Photos of the work done by this Artist have her flawless signature look. Clients have called Sonia CHARLESTON’S BEST KEPT SECRET! My work has been on building boards and magazine publications.
She was recruited to work on the Independent Film “Warrior Road” by Hair Stylist to the Stars Mrs. Joyce Gaillard. Mrs. Joyce Gaillard has also been a Client of hers. Sonia’s brushes have stroked the faces of local Personalities such as radio hosts Lady Joi of 107.3 and Lynette Green of “ Live Talk with Lynette.” Former Live 5 News Anchor Tia Brewer-Footman and Actress Deja Dee of television shows “Sleepy Hollow” and “ Star “ have been Clients when visiting the Charleston area. Sonia had the privilege of working her magic on the beautiful Emmy Nominated Singer/Songwriter Mrs. Ann Nesby and Singer Tony Terry of The New Jack Swing. “This gift that has been given is a true blessing from God, and I am forever thankful! This is Ministry! “ Sonia Elliott dived further into her Esthetic Career in 2017. Sonia is naturally a Servant Girl and wants to pursue more avenues. She worked for European Wax Center, realizing her natural talent and ability to build to build loyal clients. Sonia stepped out on faith, opening her business location after pursuing several educational opportunities and honing her skills. The economy has been rough for many of those in the self-care business.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m most proud of stepping out on faith 3 years ago and opening the business. I enjoy making a positive impact on others in this crazy world. I’m now a full-time entrepreneur working to build the business clientele and keep my doors open. Once the company grows, I aim to hire 2 estheticians/massage therapists from the community. The individuals from our community coming in each month for their self-care services support local businesses, which is crucial to keeping the dollars local. I so appreciate every one!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I found mentors in my area of niche. I am researching them and hearing what others have experienced.
