Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanna A. Jefferson.
Hi Shanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I hail from Allendale, SC graduating in 2002 from Allendale-Fairfax High School. Upon graduation, I matriculated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earning my Bachelors of Public Policy and Master of Social Work degrees. I am currently completing my doctorate.
Professionally, I am a Psychotherapist, Personal Development Strategist, Business Coach, Author, and Motivational Speaker. My life motto is “For to whom much is given, of him much shall be required”. With that being said, my primary passion and purpose in life is to serve as an agent of change. I haven’t been fed with a silver spoon in the traditional sense of the saying. However, I’ve been blessed with the silver spoon filled with grace, gratitude, humility, integrity, faith, service, divine connections, and the spirit of greatness.
While in graduate school, I commenced my journey in the mental health field working in various capacities. The culmination of my experiences working for other agencies and educating myself led me to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
I then took my entrepreneurial endeavors to the next level by establishing my mental health practice Destination Greatness in 2013 where we have helped individuals and families throughout the Carolinas and Georgia transcend adversities such as low self-esteem, depression, life stressors, grief, and other mental health challenges by first shifting their mindset so that they can live a fulfilling life.
In 2020, we launched the Therapy With Shanna brand which offers various mental wellness resources including our Mind, Body, Soul membership and eBooks. This same year, I launched my life coaching program called “Living Boldly With Shanna” for the bold, audacious, and unstoppable black woman.
I am also the Chief Visionary Officer at Visions of Greatness Enterprises where we help entrepreneurs strategize, monetize and execute their vision without sacrificing their mental health.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My journey as a business owner and entrepreneur has certainly not been smooth. At times, the struggles have been compounded on multiple domains including inconsistent cash flow, undeveloped strategic planning, marketing challenges, and not building a sustainable team. With the challenges especially in my early years, the knowledge and skills I learned prior to establishing my business seemed fruitless.
However, through it all, I stand and proclaim that I am more than a conqueror.
I am certainly grateful for the lessons and blessings of entrepreneurship and business ownership. In overcoming the challenges, I had to remain focused on my vision, trust the process, have faith, and surround myself with others striving for greatness.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As my mental health practice continues to thrive, I’m excited to push forward on my entrepreneurial journey committed to helping aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs build a solid foundation in life and business.
Several years ago, I launched the Visions of Greatness Talk Show in Atlanta, GA. Via the platform, I was afforded the opportunity to connect with many entrepreneurs locally and beyond. The success and challenges shared by my guests and audience inspired me to shift my efforts to help aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs thrive in life and business.
My experiences as a Psychotherapist, Entrepreneur, and now 9-year Business Owner have positioned me with the lived experiences, knowledge, and fuel to serve aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs.
Thus, as a Psychotherapist and Business Coach, I help entrepreneurs strategize, monetize and execute their vision without sacrificing their mental health so they can reclaim their time, gain clarity and amplify their income and impact.
On April 1, we will launch the Visions of Greatness Academy with our signature courses including a 30-Day Business Planning Bootcamp. Additional services and opportunities include business coaching and our online store filled with resources and merchandise for entrepreneurs.
How do you define success?
Success is a mindset. Success is also a commitment to believing in yourself to achieve the vision that will propel your life’s purpose and define your legacy.
