Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruslan Millinhton.

Ruslan Millinhton

Hi Ruslan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sure! I’ve been interested in art and drawing since childhood. At 15-16( now I am 27), I started tattooing myself and my friends, experimenting with a homemade machine. My family supported me financially, which allowed me to upgrade to professional equipment. That was a turning point—things started to take off.

A local studio in Sumy, Ukraine, noticed my work and immediately offered me a position as a tattoo artist. That’s where I gained my first real experience. After some time, I moved to Kyiv, where I established myself as a top artist. From there, my career kept evolving, leading me to work internationally, including my current position at Ghost Tattoo Studio in Charlotte, NC.

I’ve always let my style develop naturally, experimenting and creating what felt right. Over time, my pink-themed designs gained popularity online, and now most of my clients specifically request that aesthetic.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There were ups and downs, and I’ve faced my fair share of disappointments—especially when I didn’t win at tattoo conventions. But instead of letting it discourage me, it motivated me to improve. Over time, I started placing in competitions, securing first, second, and third places.

Another challenge was finding a way to stand out among so many talented tattoo artists. Developing a unique style took years of experimentation and dedication. I’ve also worked on many large-scale projects that required a huge time commitment, often staying late at the studio to bring my ideas to life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I’m a tattoo artist specializing in a unique pink-themed style that has gained popularity online. My work is known for its bold yet delicate aesthetic, blending soft colors with intricate details. What sets me apart is my ability to create a distinct visual identity that resonates with people and makes my tattoos instantly recognizable.

I take pride in developing my own artistic voice in such a competitive industry. It took years of experimenting and refining my craft to reach a point where clients specifically seek me out for my signature style. Beyond that, I’ve completed large-scale projects that push my skills further, and now I’m also invited to tattoo conventions as a judge.

Additionally, I’m part of a sponsored artist team, where I help develop new tattoo equipment. I’m among the first to receive and test prototypes, ensuring they meet the highest standards before they hit the market. It’s “Ghost tattoo Co” they make tattoo trays and armrest and “Emalla” tattoo supplies, who has tattoo cartridges and other supplies

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I mostly use Procreate for designing my tattoo work—it’s an essential tool that allows me to experiment and refine my ideas before bringing them to life on skin.

Beyond that, I don’t rely heavily on specific books or podcasts, but I do draw inspiration from various art forms, including classic and contemporary artists, as well as tattoo industry trends. Social media also plays a big role in staying connected with the tattoo community and keeping up with innovations in the field.

In terms of personal growth, I believe the best resource is experience—learning from trial and error, pushing my creative limits, and constantly evolving as an artist.
