Rising Stars: Meet Michelle Curry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Curry.

Michelle Curry
Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have many titles. I’m a daughter, sister, mother, wife and child of God. I am also called Coach Michelle by many! In 2012, I started Preferred Solutions, a small business working with individuals and business owners who needed assistance with marketing and advertising. Today, we have evolved to JC Consulting Group/AskMichelle Professional Services, where our firm still works with individuals and small business owners ready to activate their next, professionally and personally. Our services include Public Relations, Brand and Social Media Management, Contractor, Notary Public, Estate Planning, Wedding Officiant, Professional Coaching, and Business Development. JC Consulting Group/AskMichelle was founded in Greenville, South Carolina, where, in 2020, we extended our services virtually due to COVID-19. Our firm is now able to connect with individuals and business owners throughout the world.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Great question! No, it has not been a smooth road. I started as a one-woman team, handling everything that came my way. As we have grown, our team now has an in-house graphic, call center and videographer/photographer team. When I started in 2012, there were little to no resources and support for small business owners like myself. During that time, you learn as you go, mistakes and all! Looking back at all the obstacles and challenges, I’m thankful for each one I have sustained during slow work, no work, the pandemic, and much more. Overcoming those obstacles and challenges has also allowed me to show other individuals and small business owners how to have tenacity and press through with excellence and balance.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My background is in banking/finance. I started my career at First National Bank of Spartanburg as a teller, working my way up as a Personal Banker. While working in the banking industry, I obtained my college degree in Marketing with a concentration in Human Resource Management. In my professional career, I’ve enjoyed working in leadership roles with several Fortune 500 companies in the Southeast region. I carry several firsts in my professional career. I was the first African American to be employed at Panda Chinese Restaurant in the early 2000s and the first African American teller at a local credit union in Greenville, SC. I also hold the record for being the first African American female to be Executive Assistant to a large personal injury firm in South Carolina.
I enjoy a challenge where my goal is to find a solution no matter what area of work I’m in. I believe my work ethic and relatability skills have allowed me to get thus far in my career. I now take all of my hands-on experiences and skills to help others achieve their goal(s).
What sets me apart?
1- I don’t know a stranger
2- Everyone has a story
3- Be relatable and transparentWhat was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is of my brother and I discussing our goals, dreams, and aspirations with my mother. At an early age, my mother made sure my brother and I understood that we could be and do anything we set our minds on doing. My mother’s favorite quote that I use daily. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.Contact Info:
