Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Furlong.
Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my love affair with Charleston 6 years ago while vacationing here. I was visiting from NY and wanted to stop by and check out the “HOLY CITY” and her many charms on my way to Tennessee. During my visit, my husband and I took a carriage ride with a local guide who took us to some porch parties with friends after our tour concluded. We had such a magical time while walking home along the battery we knew we needed to make this city home. I decided to leave my corporate HR job and relocate and as I continued my love affair with Chucktown I wanted to help connect others to the city, show them around, and connect them to the community and all it has to offer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I started my real estate career in the charming community of Seabrook Island. The private beaches, world-class golf courses, and natural beauty made it an easy place to sell. Since then, my business has grown outside of the Seabrook gates and I joined Carolina One to sell in the greater Charleston area.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a realtor, I have tried to do more than just find the right house for an individual. I have introduced them to other folks in their community, taken them on excursion, taken them for horse rides on the beach, performances at Spoleto, kayaked along the coast to check out homes with deep water access. I have also been restoring a historic Charleston Single home so I can also instruct people on the process of restoring and renovating a historic home.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I consider myself an ambassador of the city. I welcome the opportunity to show people around the many different areas of the city so they can learn about what this beautiful place has to offer them.
