Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Gift.
Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Shortly after college, I relocated to Charleston, South Carolina.
I started painting from my home and connected with local art broker Hayley Price, owner of the Scouted Studio. She represents all of my original work. My most recent Ocean Collection is a series of large and medium scale canvas paintings of beaches, landscapes, and oceans.
I was fortunate to partner with Stupell Home Decor on a few select pieces from my Ocean Collection. Through this partnership, I was able to bring high-quality prints of my collection to outlets like Amazon, Wayfair, and Overstock.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have been lucky to start my career as an artist in a community that truly values artwork and local talent. It is a community that lifts one another.
The process of creating a collection can be a struggle for artists. Most often artists experience a roller coaster of emotions surrounding their own work. Will it be good enough? Will it sell?
I promised myself that I would make art. My greatest success is that I am doing just that and the internal struggle will always be a part of it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for the coastal decor and collections that reflect the island lifestyle of Charleston, South Carolina. My collection often includes female figures, swimsuits and local landscapes.
I am most proud of my product line diversification. Stationery, ornaments, hats, enamel pins, Tervis tumblers, and more!

I am grateful that my city values local events, artists,s and makers. They support and invest in the local maker community in a way that makes it possible for so many of us to do what we love.
