Hi Jenna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My career in the Beauty Industry officially began immediately upon being licensed in Cosmetology in 2013. My niche was never in hair cutting or coloring or styling alone. My deep love for Makeup Artistry and Cosmetic Teeth Whitening stemmed from years of work in the Bridal world, operating as a mobile business. Years later, I found myself in the Modeling Industry, which quickly landed me on both sides of the camera. I soon discovered my love for Photo Makeup and contributing to the art of Cinematography. I have owned my business for over nine years. I am grateful to have traveled all over the U.S., Canada & Dominican Republic doing what I love and I do not plan on stopping there. Today, I create freely as an Artist under my business name; Lavender & Honey Beauty. I work with my wonderful partner, Josue, who doubles as Photographer, Videographer, and Creative Director- Urban Visuals. My category in the Makeup World lies in the art of Graphic Liner, Unusual Colors & all levels of Glamour. I am currently offering a menu of Luxury Makeup Applications, Airbrush, Hair Styling & Cosmetic Teeth Whitening. Together, we offer Video & Photo packages including Hair & Makeup on location, internationally. This industry is ever-changing and evolving! I think the most important piece of advice I can offer to anyone who strives to work in the field they have rooted passion in- it is, to never stop learning. Stay inspired. Run with that wild idea.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My most recent obstacle is a great lesson. I had rented a studio space for a short amount of time. As much as I didn’t want to part ways with my space at first- I had to remind myself that the Universe always provides what you need… BUT it is not always in the way you think you will receive it. Sometimes your version of a plan needs shaken up to unfold the way it is destined to. Which is exactly what happened. I can clearly see I released my studio space to travel and broaden my horizons. At the time is seemed like a loss. I wouldn’t change a thing about my story.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My niche in the Makeup World lies in the art of color, photo & film makeup, and electrifying design. Each look is articulated through inspiration from many avenues. This inspiration may be pulled from music, nature, characters, fashion, movies, or color schemes to name a few. I often create a narrative to set the tone for creative direction.
