Rising Stars: Meet Jamie Dodd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Dodd.

Hi Jamie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
When I was attending Lander University, at one point I was barely getting by financially, most of the time I wasn’t able to participate in the activities, and fun going on around campus. I was already exploring music through audio engineering, but I wanted to become a producer because of the creative process. So, I locked in and used that time to learn the craft. I’ve been producing for about 10 years now and worked with a variety of artists. My biggest placement is with Blacc Zacc’s “When I want 2”. My goal is to make a career and a living out of production, and every day I put in hours towards it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think anybody has had a smooth road. We all share common struggles in different shapes and forms. My toughest one today still is networking. We have so many platforms to connect with people on, which makes it over-saturated and tough to stand out.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in Music Production. I’ve been known for having bouncy trap beats and melodic melodies. I think the thing that I am most proud of is teaching myself Music theory. As a producer, we all know that is a plus and makes life easier. And I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am dedicated to the journey and process. I don’t care how long it takes; I don’t care about being the best. I care about progression and consistency, and I just love this lane. I think if you have those qualities, all the accolades and awards will fall in place.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I honestly don’t have a huge support system. But I do have people close to me that motivate me to keep going. Which is fine because all I need is myself and my faith in Christ.
