Rising Stars: Meet Gianna Gutierrez of Greenville – Woodruff Road

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gianna Gutierrez.

Gianna Gutierrez

Hi Gianna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you for having me! My story began when I walked into a nail salon at 16 years old. I loved the smell when I first walked in and the fascination of watching someone paint my nails. In 2015, I started to learn how to do my own nails at home. Over the years, I practiced on my sister to improve with acrylic application and nail art. In 2021, I took the step to enroll in a local cosmetology school. I fell in love with learning more about our nail chemistry and the art of acrylic nails and painting. After graduating and earning my license, my dad helped me build a small studio out of our house to start my business. In 2022, I signed a lease for my first salon suite. Ever since then, I have been booked out every single month and enjoying the true passion I had in me! I get to meet hundreds of amazing clients who have inspiring stories of their own. My favorite part of my work is helping my clients fall in love with another part of self care!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most of the journey has been a fantastic experience! However, some struggles I’ve learned to overcome are taking breaks from work and focusing on my personal life. Being an entrepreneur sometimes means you will be working on your days off. However, maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life will make a huge difference.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a nail artist that specializes in acrylic nails. I’m mostly known for my detailed hand-painted nail art. I’m different from a typical nail technician because I focus on the quality of nails, including the art of drawing anything from cartoon characters to logos to beautiful butterflies. I’m most proud of my talent, which is being able to duplicate almost any nail set my client shows me.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice would be to put yourself out there through different social media platforms and to have referrals from previous clients. Collaborations with nail companies are also a great way to put yourself on the map while also testing out new companies’ products!
