Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Laratta.

Emily Laratta

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was 13 years old, I really wanted my very own computer. That christmas my parents got me a full desktop computer. I quickly fell in love with coding my MySpace page, finding layouts for my Xanga, and making my AIM away messages as cute as possible. That began my love for having an online presence. I quickly realized social media was a place where I could express my creativity and passions with a broad audience. Fast forwarded to the age of Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, I now have a combined following of almost eight thousand people who are on this journey with me. Eight thousand people may not seem like a lot compared to major social media influencers, but thinking that eight thousand people choose to follow me, is mind blowing. I’m thankful everyday for the community of people that engage with me and my content.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My social media journey has been one with a lot of highs and lows. There will be days where big brands will comment, react and share my content on their pages. There are also days where a video I worked really hard to make and edit, will get a few hundred views with little to no engagement. Social media sometimes feels harder than high-school, with the feeling of wanting to be seen, self doubt and the yearn for validation. Within the last year, I have focused on overcoming those feelings of self doubt and seeking validation. I have shifted my focus on posting for me and what I’m passionate about. By doing that I found a renewed sense of confidence. It has also allowed me to connect with my community on a deeper more sincere level.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My main focus as a content creator, is sharing lifestyle content. I post outfit inspirations, shopping hauls, cooking videos, cleaning reset content, etc. I try to be diverse in the lifestyle content I create so there is something for everyone. You like watching cleaning videos? I got that! You like finding new outfit inspiration? I got that too! Do you like watching day in the life videos? I got that as well! I strive to have fresh content and found that it helps me stand out to my community.

Aside from that I also have an exciting part time career as a fire/flow arts performer. I have been spinning fire for almost ten years! My full time job is managing seven retail stores. I have been with the same company for 12 years and really enjoy my job. Sometimes you will find me sharing tid bits about those two aspects of my life, in my social media content.

I am very proud of myself for following my passion for content creation, while working full time and doing my performance gigs part time. I take pride in knowing that I give my all in everything I do. I aim to be as transparent and genuine as possible with my online community and I feel that authenticity is what sets me apart.

I look forward to continuing to grow my online presence, sharing my passions, and connecting with even more people who share similar interests.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. From a young age, I was deeply involved in various activities. I took dance, I was a cheerleader in middle and highschool and even played the violin in my middle and highschool orchestra program. My personality was always vivacious. I thrived on hanging out with friends, trying new things and being social.

I loved shopping at the mall with friends on friday nights, attending concerts at the NMB House of Blues, and concerts at other small local venues. Spending time online was also very important to me. MySpace, Xanga, and AIM messenger were my go-to platforms for connecting with friends and sharing my life.
