Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecil Dove.
Hi Cecil, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Eternal Pressure was born from a return to home, to self, and to a calling I nearly left behind. After years of working across fashion, food and beverage, wellness, and healthcare in New York. I returned to South Carolina post-pandemic and allowed myself the space to reflect. That pause led me back to massage therapy, an interest I had set aside after high school while pursuing a career in nursing. In the fall of 2023, everything shifted when I enrolled in the Clinical Massage Therapy program at Midlands Technical College. Under the guidance of my instructor Messcina Scott of Exhale Studio by Messcina, I witnessed the profound impact of this work firsthand. With a long-standing yoga practice, breath-work and mind–body connection naturally became central to my personal approach to Massage Therapy; beginning each session with grounding breath, intention, and embodied awareness. After earning my license in the summer of 2024, I worked in both franchised and privately owned spa environments. While educational, those spaces often failed to value the practitioner fully, reinforcing my desire to build something different for myself.
In April 2025, Eternal Pressure Intuitive Massage and Bodywork Studio opened in the BullStreet District at Image Studios. That same year, I secured an independent contract with Zeel, providing medical massages to retired military veterans. Soon after, I partnered with the University of South Carolina McCausland College of Arts and Sciences for my first university-contracted chair massage event. In 2026, my work expanded into sports massage, supporting elite athletes preparing for the NFL Draft through Apex Athletics.
Each step has confirmed that this work is purposeful. I remain deeply grateful to every client and supporter who continues to trust, encourage, and grow alongside Eternal Pressure Studio.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can’t say the journey has been smooth by any means. One of the biggest challenges was developing an approach to massage that felt authentic and personal to me. Integrating my love of yoga into my techniques has become a signature style I’ve been refining since entering the Clinical Massage Therapy program in 2023. Along the way, I also faced the challenges of working under franchised and privately owned spas. Over time, the financial strain and physical demands revealed that staying in those settings was not sustainable if I hoped to show up fully for my clients while honoring my own health. That realization led me to take a bold leap of faith and open my own wellness space. Supported by loved ones and by clients who trusted me enough to follow my work wherever it went. I made the move, and it proved to be the best decision for my life and my career.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Clinical Massage Therapist, my work begins and ends with my hands. That’s where my gift lives, and why I chose the name Eternal Pressure. While I’m trained in Swedish, deep tissue, hot stones, body scrubs, wraps, sports massage, pain management, table tai and cupping. I don’t believe in limiting myself to a single specialty or modality. Instead, I believe in intuitively responding to each client’s needs through a trauma-informed lens. Listening to their bodies, their stories, and their goals for every session, meeting them exactly where they are. What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me and the way they respond to the work we do together. From deep relaxation to pain management and everything in between. We co-create care plans that support recovery, resilience, and long-term well-being. I believe massage therapy is medicine. One that touches the body, mind, and soul in ways we often underestimate and are only beginning to understand with the right therapist.
For me, this work isn’t about distinction. It’s about doing the work. My approach to this work is uniquely my own, and I believe that diversity of care is the true beauty of wellness. I aim to cultivate community by creating spaces of care, where every body, client and colleague alike, is respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My five-finger wisdom for anyone stepping into this work comes from listening to your body, your clients, and the journey itself: First, find your niche. Let your massage style be a true expression of who you are.
Second, gain as much hands-on experience as possible (always with consent). There is no substitute for hands-on experience; it remains the greatest teacher.
Third, know your worth. Especially in commercial spa environments, advocate for yourself. Your results and client feedback tell the truth, trust them. The old model of massage therapy is behind us, and today, our work should be valued accordingly.
Fourth, release the idea that every client is meant for you. The ones aligned with your work will find their way to you.
Fifth, lean on your tribe. This path isn’t easy; it requires support, love, and community. I’m Eternally Grateful for mine and wouldn’t be here without them.
I don’t have any regrets, but I deeply honor the value of mentorship. Whether formal or informal, having someone to learn from helps keep me grounded, supported, and open to growth as this field continues to evolve.
