Today we’d like to introduce you to Binge Ink.
Hello Binge Ink. Can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Binge Ink is a queer female-owned business; the 3 of us (Emily, Alyse, and Taylor) wanted to open a tattoo studio that was inclusive and a safe space for everyone! We’ve been in tattoo shops with toxic environments for the artists and clients and knew we wanted to create our business to cater to everyone and to make anyone who wants to get a tattoo to feel comfortable and at ease when working with us!
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
We struggled to find a location that fits all the check regulations for tattoo studios, but finally found 3506 N Main St. We have worked so hard updating and creating an inviting atmosphere! After getting approved to open finally, we were stressed that we had just spent all of this time and money on this shop and had yet to determine if it would succeed. We are 2 weeks in, and we can thankfully say that we have had an overwhelming amount of love and support; so many members of the lgbtq+ community showed up for us, we’ve had so many inquiries and appointments booked, we’ve had people reaching out to us to tell us they are grateful we opened and that we are here in SC. It’s been amazing!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Alyse is an exceptional artist on all fronts; from her whimsical, illustrative tattoo style to her large-scale mural work and interior design skills, she excels in whatever artistic passion she chooses to pursue. Taylor has been creating art her whole life, and before starting to tattoo, she did many different art commissions, from pet portraits to painting custom shoes! Alyse and Taylor have only been tattooing for around a year, but having an already extensive art background; they will quickly set themselves apart in the tattoo industry. Emily is the glue that holds us all together. She has been tattooing for 10+ years, and her knowledge and skill have provided us with everything we need to excel and put forth amazing tattoos! She loves all styles and can design whatever you’d like with ease!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our friends and family have been cheering us on from the beginning and have done everything they can to support us in all aspects! The queer community has shown so much love; clients have traveled to different states to see us! We have been incredibly blessed by all of the support we have received!
