Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
STYLEE LYST is a lifestyle blog featuring fashion, beauty, travel, eats, and more. STYLEE LYST’s goal is to inspire women (and men) to live their best lives at every price point.
Established in 2018, STYLEE LYST was created due to my need for a creative outlet. What started as a simple fashion-centric Instagram, blossomed into a full-fledged brand. In addition to being a lifestyle blogger, I am also a stylist, marketing consultant, fashion columnist, and new mom.
With over 32,000 monthly website viewers, 21.1K followers on Instagram, and more than 404,000 monthly Pinterest views, I cannot wait to see how my brand will continue to evolve.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I mean, creating and growing a brand is never a smooth road – especially when part of that journey was amidst COVID. I think that curating a close-knit group of blogger/business friends, being as professional as possible with brands, and branching out to New York and Charleston (in addition to Connecticut) helped my brand grow.
Additionally, in the past year, pregnancy and then becoming a mom has also served up a new set of challenges, along with ‘new doors’. If you look for solutions and the positive side of things, you can turn any situation into an opportunity. I am a firm believer that with hard work, any situation can have a “bright side.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In the past year and a half, I have been lucky enough to fold in ‘columnist’ to my professional portfolio… in addition to blogging, styling, and marketing consulting, I now have my own fashion column, The Style List by STYLEE LYST.
The column is in both Darien and Greenwich Lifestyle Magazine, based in Fairfield County, CT. They come in both print and digital – so those that are not local to Connecticut can still read online.
As far as the blog (www.styleelyst.com/@styleelyst) goes, I mainly focus on fashion and beauty with jewelry and travel being two major subcategories. In fact, one of my most successful blog posts is, ‘A Blogger’s City Guide to Charleston, South Carolina’. It is a blog that I have been adding to for several years now, as my parents moved down to Mount Pleasant, allowing me the chance to frequent Charleston (and the surrounding area!) more than ever before.
The blog consists of things to do, places to dine, places to shoot content (for creatives and bloggers alike), as well as where to shop. I just got back from Charleston a few weeks ago, and I need to add more to the mix, so stay tuned for the post to be updated in the next month.
What does success mean to you?
I think success is measured by how you feel about hitting milestones… by the joy that those milestones bring you.
Success can be any benchmark that you deem fit. As long as you are growing, moving forward, and feeling accomplished and happy while doing so, I would call that success.
