Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Brown.
Tyler, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In the Low Country, there lies dormant an artistic few. Maybe ahead of theirs, maybe on their time. In a ridiculously unsaturated tri-state area (save Camouflage) lies a Travis Scottesque, hold the bullshit, “man of many hats:” KUNTRY”. Okay, another household name? Maybe a marijuana induced flow; carved out with auto tune and whatever is left of Activis?
Maybe fuck you. Maybe someone who has learned to market them self. Maybe, just maybe South Carolinas great dope hope. I got to kick it via iPhone with Tyler “KUNTRY” Brown and his engineer: Chris. Both were extremely Meta, completely on keel with the zeitgeist. Both were not ready to fuck around…as I hit more and more hits of the last Blueberry 99 I had left over from my days in Asheville, less fucks were given in my slight interview process.
Something I not only respected, but admired. There is something to be respected about an artist; but even more an artist who keeps his mind on his work. We all know 99% doesn’t amount to shit, we live in a world where we are ten toes in, or we may as well have the integrity of the bum in flip-flops filling out lottery tickets as we impatiently wait to grab a pack of white owls. In this post 808’s Era we (the Millennials) hear music with a sigh and a scowl, unable to accept the future.
In a post-racist-attack-lost-to-humanity Charleston; there lies our friend. Easily likable, and the ever representing THE LOW COUNTRY, a young man who cares far more about his locale than the Franklin faces he undoubtedly deserves. We forget to hear. We forget to see. His creations double your daily dreams, an amazing shot in ChuckTown, is an exclamation point of effortless genius.
His creative style emulates a persona we as Carolinians need. The Kanye Mullet, the Wayne dreads and double cup, at last South Carolina has a reason to brag. A young man in a tall coat, with clarity and respect for the tri-state I grew up in, is carrying young artists on his back; behind the camera…
And becoming the defining difference. Our fondness of hate is high in the south, sans actually admiring what goes into it. Which, I can attest, is quite a lot of bullshit. So, let us welcome someone who may be the Key that opens the door; or the inevitable Brick that opens the window: Tyler “KUNTRY” Brown.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road, but I enjoy every hurdle as every loss has became a lesson on what to do and what not to do in the same breath. May I keep finding people who are for me to also assist with raising the frequency of the world.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a songwriter, artist and creator. I am known for being creative and creating my own wave. I am most proud of being a trendsetter and having a vision to go outside of the normal and push the envelope, which in the same breath set aside from other artist and individuals.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
To not follow the crowd while doing your own research and to stand for what you truly believe in.
