Hi Shanika, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Shanika Thomas, a woman business owner, and proud mother of two amazing children. I am from a small town called Jonesville right outside of Union SC. I graduated from Union High School in 2008. I then proceeded to Greenville Technical College where I received my Associates Degree in Science. I am a full time employee at DFA Milk in Spartanburg SC as a Front Office Clerk. I love to dance, laugh and shop. I have been in the retail business for about 3 years now. Although I have been into fashion my entire life. I love building women’s confidence and letting all women know how beautiful they are. My small business is not just a business, it’s something I look forward to doing every single day. I love adding new things to the spotlight as well meeting new people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to having a successful business was not easy at all! There were many struggles! Until I got my brick and mortar, I did pop up shops and sold out of my home via website. This was very difficult especially when Covid-19 hit. I then found a physical location to build something I would be very proud of. I have been learning new things every single day to better my business. From hiring employees, to modeling, to marketing. This has been a great experience!

I am known for my confidence! When I model the clothes, I want all my customers and future customers to know that rather you are big or small, short or tall, Rock that confidence! What’s next
My small future plans are to become a one-stop shop! To do so, I would need more space and more talented employees. I would love to be more in the background and build a strong team! When I say Team, I am talking about everybody who is a part of Bend The Trend Boutique will make women walk out of Bend the Trend feeling 10x better about themselves than before they walked in!
