Today we’d like to introduce you to Randi Weinstein.
Hi Randi, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It’s a journey – I started in NY in the garment center, moved to Charleston to get married, had to find a new career, got divorced, and started working for a nonprofit that served chronically mentally ill adults living in the community. I had to fund my position and the programming and began doing event to raise money and awarenesses. That eventually lead me to the chas wine + food festival as the director of events and logistics for 8 years. moved on to restaurant operations and began a project called bad bitches and raised money for women in f&b and awarded scholarships to further their education in a variety of areas. That was the foundation to begin FAB. An educational business workshop for all women in the hospitality industry.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing is smooth if people say that they are full of shit! There are always obstacles along the way. Some of mine were ticket sales, death of my mother 3 months before the workshop, son diagnosed with a heart condition a month before the first workshop – the details of it all worked fine, but quite an emotional journey
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most proud of FAB- I was able to visualize it, plan it, get national speakers on board and have it become a must-attend event by so many in this industry. FAB is a multi-day workshop that has (this year) 76 national speakers speaking on 35 panels of content. This workshop is all about getting the tools needed no matter what stage you are in your career, beginning or looking for an exit strategy. It about connections, finding mentors, creating your network of people to last forever, it’s about a support system. FAB is zero bullshit and about investing in yourself.
What matters most to you? Why?
That all people attending feel like they are getting something out of attending and that those that attend each year see the changes that they might have recommended that would make it an even better workshop. Inclusivity is key.
Pricing:
- $600.00 is the cost to attend the 3-day workshop
