Meet Micah Frazier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Micah Frazier.

Micah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well like most people’s, my story started were my hobbies that grew into true purpose. I fell in love with photography when my love of fashion design dwindled. I moved back home from living in New York for about a year and found myself loving to take pictures. I first started taking pictures of landscapes as a therapeutic tool to decompress from life and I could never let it go. My mom told me, “Micah, find something you love that you would do for free, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”, and photography is that thing for me. I am a self-taught makeup art and although it’s not necessarily my passion, I love to enhance women’s natural beauty. I look at it like this, I’m an artist naturally and I love to draw and paint, so I look at it as I get to paint on a live canvas. That excites me because I’m not trying to create a whole new canvas, I just want to enhance its natural features. At one time, I quit doing makeup, but one of my Spiritual Mothers told me that God would use all my gifts/talents, and He is doing just that! He opened up an opportunity nowhere I had to jump back into doing makeup and it’s like I fell in love with it all over again. So now I add that as a service to my photography clients and it truly helps when I do my clients’ makeup because I know how it should look and how well it’s going to photograph.

October 2021, God gave me the instruction to quit the best job I’d ever had. I left Corporate America to trust God fully. Now, I didn’t like the job functions I did at the corporate job but I loved the company I worked for. I use to pray to God to take me away from the job, and boy did He do just that! He had been preparing me for months to transition from a paycheck to living through obedience and faith. God then told me it was time to put in my 30-day notice and you better believe I had already had it typed and ready to send, all I was waiting for was God to give me a date. He gave me the date 9.30.21. He told me to look up what each number meant. 9 is the number of Divine Completeness or finality. 30 symbolizes dedication to a particular task or calling. And for 21, God said to add the numbers together and you get 3 symbolizing harmony, new life, and completeness. God confirmed His plans for me and that this timing was His timing. It gave me complete faith in what I heard Him say concerning me. He gave me many other signs to show me that I could trust Him. But what solidified my taking this serious leap of faith with God in going into business full time, was God told me that if I would obey what He tells me to do, truly live in obedience to what He says, then I would never lack a day in my life. It’s been 7 months of full time entrepreneurship, and I have not LACKED a day since!!!

Photography is not only my passion, but it’s my purpose. God called me to show the world the beauty He created through the lens of my camera. He allows me to bring my creativity and marry it with the vision my clients have in their minds. I get to bring life to photography sets through creative set designs, lighting techniques, and creative makeup looks. I absolutely love photography for that very reason. I get to freeze a beautiful moment in time, where my clients felt their best and captured it for them to have for a lifetime. For their children’s children to look back and see how amazing they were. I get the honor of making their dreams a reality.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some obstacles I face are time management and work/life balance. I love what I do, but I do need to make sure my business hours don’t take over my personal time. I did recently start taking a Sabbath, so that is helping.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor in your profession is so important. Learning from someone who lives the life you want will open your eyes to many areas regarding the profession you’re about to embark on. I found my photography mentor in 2012 and he has been absolutely amazing teaching me things I never knew. Mauricio Richardson adopted me as a little sister and has never withheld any knowledge that would help me become a better photographer. He has taught me almost everything I know about photography and to this very day I still work with him and he’s still teaching, critiquing, and helping me grow my business as I help his.
