Today we’d like to introduce you to Merideth Olson.
Hi, Merideth; we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I initially pursued a career in Broadcast Journalism while in college at the University of South Carolina, with dreams of becoming a news reporter. However, my photography journey began unexpectedly when a girl asked me to take her graduation photos after letting me know she loved how I edited my Instagram. This simple ask showed me a passion for capturing special moments, leading me to specialize in destination wedding photography and storytelling. As my business grew, I expanded into digital marketing, offering website design and social media management services. Today, I am fortunate to own two businesses. Travel the world for weddings and have built a successful agency with a team of employees, constantly evolving and expanding our reach.
Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
Navigating the path to where I am today was challenging. As a one-person operation for a significant period, I had to create motivation and drive for myself. Being on top of all tasks can be difficult, but I started utilizing Apple calendars and prioritizing apps. Because I got into this pretty early – there was no “template” for how to be a travel photographer or “how to build your marketing agency.” I had to learn how to get things done independently, which has built a lot of resilience. This meant I had to figure out my methods and strategies, often putting in long hours and undergoing crazy workdays. Despite the demanding nature of the journey, I have loved every moment of it so far, finding fulfillment and passion in the work.

I run two distinct businesses – MerMacPhoto and MerMacMedia. At MerMacPhoto, I live in the world of destination weddings and lifestyle photography, capturing every huge milestone and all the in-between moments along the way. I thrive on documenting and telling people’s stories through the images I capture and the galleries I deliver. On the flip side, MerMacMedia is a dynamic marketing agency where we specialize in graphic design, social media management, marketing materials, brand elevation, and more. We’ve snagged over 5 awards, from top-notch graphic design to stellar website creation, making us a proud award-winning agency. Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might be surprising as someone who owns and runs two businesses is that I also work as a group fitness coach at the Booty Shop in downtown Greenville. I love doing this because I challenge myself physically, motivate others to get active, and fall in love with fitness. It’s been a blast for the past three years, and I enjoy sharing my passion for health and fitness with the community.
