Meet Keianna Rucker and Raivaysha Dukes of South Carolina Scholar Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keianna Rucker and Raivaysha Dukes.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Founded in 2022, South Carolina Scholar Academy was just a dream on paper, a vision board and a PowerPoint slide. That dream grew so big the paper holding it could hold no more. It was a fear that wanted to be set free and finally gains the wings of freedom. Finally, on April 6, 2022, Keianna Rucker (Founder, Head of Upper Schools) brought it to life. In August of 2022, she worked at a private school where she met another teacher who shared the same dream. Raivaysha Dukes (Founder, Head of Lower Schools). Two teachers set on the mission to change how the private school looked, to challenge the minds of young innovators of tomorrow, changing and breaking the barriers of students versus education and education versus students.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been an easy process. Through faith and trusting God, our vision has come to life. We’ve learned to roll with the punches. Even when the man said no, God said yes. We are open and ready to serve the community.

We’ve been impressed with South Carolina Scholar Academy, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
SCSA’s mission is to empower, lead, create, and challenge every student to be their best self. We provide a well-rounded education that focuses on the child’s development: academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. We inspire students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and innovative leaders. We are the youngest two black women to open up a Private School in the state of SC.

So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
If you would like to sponsor, donate, or support SCSA. You can reach out to us at southcarolinascholaracademy@gmail.com. Our school cash app is $SCSAPanthers. We appreciate any help with advancing our student’s education.
