Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Pearson.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Springwell Church was founded in 1995 with a simple but powerful vision: to create a church where people far from God could find hope, healing, and a place to belong. From the beginning, our mission has been to remove the barriers that often keep people from experiencing Jesus. We believe church should be a place where people feel comfortable asking questions, exploring their faith, and growing in a relationship with God at their own pace.
What started as a small group of people meeting in a living room quickly grew, moving from rented spaces to our current location in Taylors, South Carolina. Over the years, Springwell has been known for its heart for the community—whether through serving families in need, partnering with local organizations, or hosting events that bring people together in meaningful ways.
At our core, we are a church for the unchurched—those who have never been to church, those who have been hurt by church, and those who have been out of church for a while. We exist to meet people where they are, no matter their background or story. Our services are casual, welcoming, and designed to make the message of Jesus accessible to everyone. We believe that life change happens in community, and we are passionate about creating environments where kids, students, and adults can experience the love of Jesus in a way that makes sense to them.
One of the ways we live out that mission is through our deep commitment to recovery. We believe that everyone has hurts, habits, and hang-ups, and the church should be a place where people can find healing. We are intentional about creating space for people to process their struggles, find hope in Jesus, and walk in freedom—whether it’s through personal discipleship, recovery groups, or simply being a safe place where people can be honest about their journey.
Springwell is not just a church you attend; it’s a family you belong to. Everything we do—from our worship services to our small groups to our outreach efforts—is centered on the belief that life is better when we do it together, and that every person matters to God. That’s why we continue to grow, adapt, and find new ways to share the hope of Jesus with the world around us.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Springwell has had a fair set of challenges along this 30 year journey. We’ve faced criticism from all over the community for the people we attract and our dedication to our mission. We have continued to push forward and insist on being a safe place for those walking through recovery and seeking hope in moments where that seems impossible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
