Meet Hunter Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Park.

Hi Hunter, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
She Returns From War came from moving home to Charleston after exploring cities and looking for a place to nurture my music career. I landed back home in Charleston because there was this certain underlying notion that the hard work I put in would eventually pay off. Despite our need for healing, there is still so much magick that happens surrounding this area of the nation. It may have not been the most conventional path, I could have been closer to the connections of New York and Nashville, but through the community here I have been able to travel the entire nation meeting and playing with some of the most amazing people I have ever met.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not a smooth road, but it was indeed supported by amazing people. The artistic and musical communities in South Carolina are rich in people who care and in every way they can they offer help. From Walterboro to Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, and everywhere in between there are communities of people who use our art to enrich lives and strengthen community. That’s why I have stuck it out here.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a trans woman, Charlestonian, and dog momma working to further my music career on a national level through my band She Returns From War.

What matters most to you?
Intellectual Humility.

A sort of new philosophy about how our mindset guides our intellectual conduct. Striving for the understanding of self and how that can impact the world. I use it as a tool in my writing and also in establishing goals for my future.
