Today we’d like to introduce you to Gigi Love.
Hi Gigi; we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I went from celebrating graduating from RN school and passing my NCLEX exam to becoming a registered nurse to fighting for my life with Covid-19. As a believer in Christ, I know all my fights are fixed, and I’m predestined to win every time. Psalm 34:19 is one of my favorite scripture verses because it assures me that God is with me. It says: many are the affliction of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all. I was prepared and conditioned by Holy Spirit back in 2015 to conquer what 2016 would throw my way. I started having pain in my chest and left arm that would not go away but continued to worsen. I took myself to the emergency room when it became too much to bear. They did a chest x-ray that revealed that I had pneumonia, and with my family history of heart problems, they admitted me for observation. Dr. HM, my favorite cardiologist, was consulted to see me and ordered a CT scan. The scan revealed the mass growing on my left thyroid gland undetected. If I had not obeyed God in 2015 and fasted for forty days and forty nights, I would not have been prepared for what happened after this medical discovery. No one wanted to say the “C” word, but I could hear it.
My faith had grown leaps and bounds to withstand forty days and forty nights without food. I drank only the liquids allowed by Holy Spirit. When Covid-19 attacked me, I was ready. When I clocked out and left work on that Thursday, I would not be back. The pain my body began to experience the next day was not only unbelievable but unbearable. I cried because I was hurting down inside my bones, and the headache had my head feeling like it could pop at any moment. It was as though someone had placed a rubber band around my head and was continuously twisting it, but it refused to break. I was fighting to breathe, I couldn’t feed myself, nor could I bathe myself. Here lies a nurse who made a career caring for others who need to be cared for. I will always be grateful to my baby girl and boy for all they did in 2016 and 2020 to care for me. The enemy would visit me frequently and tell me to give up. He would say that if you die, there will be no more pain. I couldn’t even use my words, but my spirit began to speak and say: I can’t die because God has promised me too many blessings. I have grandchildren I haven’t met yet, and I haven’t gotten married yet, so why would I want to die? When facing our giants, we must stand on the scriptures and the Word spoken to us by Jesus Christ.
Not only that, but my spirit began to decree and declared that I would live and not die. The mass in 2016, the divorce in 2017, and the homelessness in 2018 prepared me for 2020. After God delivered me, I returned to work making $15 more an hour. Then in 2021, I signed on with Krucial Staffing traveling from state to state, caring for others again. Hard times are not to kill us but to build us. My best is yet to come. Oh, in 2022, I met my grandchildren whom I’d never met, and God sent my husband. We are not married yet, but we are waiting on God’s timing. Proverbs 3:5-6 is our motto. We want God to be glorified in what He has done. EMO is truly the man God told me about in 2017, the day after relocating to Jacksonville, Florida. I can truly say that the joy of the Lord is full in my life, and I have no regrets.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles and challenges come in different forms. One of the main ones was going from living in a three-bedroom, two-bath home in Louisiana to not having the needed finances to secure a place for my babies and me. Not to mention that God put me back in RN school with no money and told me to trust Him and everything would be just fine.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a nurse of over 20+ years. I started as a candy striper at twelve years of age. Later, I became a certified nursing assistant and got my LPN in 1999. I loved caring for people so much that I did free community service in my neighborhood at a very young age. When you’re called to do something, there’s just no way around it. I am currently a Med Surg travel nurse working with various travel nurse companies going from state to state as I’m led. I am known for starting IVs, calming gassy newborns, and shifting atmospheres.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Integrity is fuel for life. If I couldn’t be trusted to represent God’s kingdom, which is the reason for my success, He would not allow me to travel as I do. Prayer, fasting, and seeking the heart of God through worship and praise have opened many doors for me and continue as I stay in the proper posture.
