Meet Erin Weaver of Daniel Island

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Weaver.

Hi Erin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a 22-year-old that grew up in a small town in Virginia. I’ve been practicing yoga on my own since 16, following YouTube yoga videos and reading yoga books until I started to slowly piece together yoga flows on my own. I started getting into yoga after finding an older book my mother had on yoga and meditation and soon fell in love with the whole practice of a vinyasa-type flow. I continued practicing on my own every day, reading as many books on yoga as I could get. I come from a big family and have 5 siblings (1 older, 4 younger) my youngest brother is very emotional and was very temperamental, at a young age it was hard for him to understand his emotions and he would frequently get upset. I started getting him to go through some of the breathing exercises I had come across in my yoga/meditation readings. I knew then that I wanted to be an instructor and teach children, coming from a big family I love kids and I love yoga so why not combine them! Fast forward a few years later and I began looking for a course and was researching yoga teacher training consistently for a couple of years but unfortunately, there was no training going on in my area. Fast forward a year later and I just happened to mention to a personal trainer at my gym and she told me about Vidya hot yoga studio in Kingsport TN, which was about an hour away from me, that was about to start a 200-hour yoga teacher training. I instantly went and signed up without a second thought even though I was working full time, working out 5/7 days a week, and practicing yoga at a studio near me. It was a hot power studio which was a type of yoga that I had never tried before, so I was crazy nervous on my first day. However, I showed up and it felt like home, it was perfect for me, intense and challenging. My classmates soon became like a second family that I spent every weekend from January 2021 – to April 2021. After the first two weeks of training, I knew this was the right choice and I wanted to be able to focus on my training and give it 100%, so I took a leap and quit my full-time job. I had enough saved and was making a small income from Instagram that I knew I’d be fine for the remainder of my teacher training but it was still really scary. On April 25th, 2021 I graduated from my 200-hour level teacher training and was so excited to teach, I taught my first class a month later and then moved to Daniel Island, SC. Since then, I’ve been teaching private classes and online classes and subbing for a yoga instructor friend at the Daniel Island fitness center, and hopefully will start subbing at Two bloke’s brewery’s Sunday yoga classes. I started my fitness account @erinweaverfit on Instagram and TikTok recently in the hopes of being able to spread my love of yoga to others in different places! I’m currently looking into teacher training specifically for children and children who fall on the spectrum, my dream is to start frequently teaching children on the spectrum and just children in general, as well as continuing to offer classes for everyone else!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not entirely smooth, while I loved every step of my journey it was hard to balance a full-time job and college when I first began my yoga teacher training, it was really challenging for my mind and body

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a 200-hour level certified yoga instructor and I’m registered with Yoga Alliance. I’m also a full-time lifestyle influencer, working hard to become a fitness influencer as well, and an ambassador for KAILA supplements.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
That my body is stronger and more capable of handling life’s challenges than I would have ever guessed
