Hi David, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
F our years ago, my wife, Tara, bought me a Star Wars LEGO set for Christmas. I was instantly hooked. Three years and about 150 Star Wars sets later…..we decided to open a Bricks & Minifigs franchise. We knew immediately that Fort Mill was where we wanted to locate our business. We knew Fort Mill was THE perfect family-centric town that would support a small business geared towards kids and fun! About 6 months after making the decision to go on this journey, we were opening our store on May 17th, 2025. We were overwhelmed when we saw there was a line around the corner just to get into our store. That line lasted all day and we saw and met hundreds of amazing and wonderful people. Tara and I have enjoyed coming to work every day since then.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Generally, there were minor bumps in the road, but every time something came up…..we said a little prayer and it always just seemed to work out! We knew it would not be an easy journey, but we knew in our hearts that we were doing the right thing for us. You can never count on the smoothest roads in life, but Tara and I are determined to do our best strive to give our customers an amazing experience every time they are in our store.

Bricks & Minifigs (BAM) Fort Mill is your one stop destination for all things LEGO. We buy, trade, and sell LEGO and LEGO related products. From new sets, to accessories, we have everything you may want in regards to LEGO. What sets us apart from a normal LEGO store is that we also sell pre-built LEGO sets, loose minifigures (LEGO people), and loose bricks/pieces. If you need a part or a minifigure for a project, chances are, we have it. For us, we are most proud of our customer service….we want everyone who walks in to have a great experience and to WANT to come back. We also host birthday parties in our party room…..those are a BLAST! We encourage the kids….and the adults….to be as loud and have as much fun as possible!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Smartless is my favorite podcast right now…for pure entertainment purposes. Listening to their guests just casually chatting is insightful and you seem to learn more about the guest than on a regular talk show. The One Minute Manager is another great resource I refer to often from a management perspective.
