Meet Darneta Jones of Complete Visions & Hope for Children and Families

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darneta Jones.

Hi Darneta, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my counseling career at the University Of South Carolina Union, a two-year institution, and later transferred to The University of South Carolina Upstate, a four-year public institution. While I was there, I was approached by the Dean of Student Life and asked to serve as a part-time counselor, serving the students at Residential Life. It became very clear to me that I had a strong passion to launch my private practice. So, it was at the end of my last academic year at USC Upstate that I took a huge leap of faith and became a full-time private practitioner. I recall having a planning meeting with an organization in the City of Spartanburg, and I was told that I would not make it past year one as a private practitioner, to his surprise and many others, Complete Visions & Hope not only made it past year one but it has thrived for 19 years. As my practice grew and I began seeing more clients in the Upstate region, I moved my practice from Spartanburg, SC to Greenville, SC where it has continued to expand and grow.

I have expanded my services beyond my solo practice to serve surrounding churches and organizations by providing grief seminars and other community events. I educate individuals about the journey of death and help them to walk this journey out in a healthy manner. I am also a licensed and ordained preacher and have served in the Lower and Upstate regions for 28 years now. By being by-vocational as a therapist by trade and a woman of the clergy, I have been able to reach many individuals, helping them to live a holistic life. I am eagerly awaiting to see what unfolds in Complete Visions & Hope for Children and Families, and my evangelistic ministry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but the journey has been a very fulfilling one. Starting out as an African American woman under the age of 30 as a private practitioner was not always easy. As well, trying to establish a reputable name in the community as a woman of integrity and with a strong skill base and knowledge, presented many challenges.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Complete Visions & Hope for Children and Families, LLC was established in 2003 serving children beginning at age 6 and adults. I am the owner and serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Grief Certified Specialist. I work with clients who may be dealing with some form of grief and or relationship issue. I take pride in offering a safe space for my clients to share and discuss their most intimate thoughts and issues in life. My clients often comment that I provide a very welcoming and personable environment.

What’s next?
As much as I enjoy doing telehealth with my clients, I do hope to be able to return to my office full time and offer face-to-face counseling again as we continue to move away from this pandemic. This upcoming fall, in November I am looking forward to co-hosting a grief seminar here in the Upstate region titled FAITH Arise Presents: Calming the Waves: An In-Depth Look at Navigating the Grief Journey.

I look forward to expanding and offering more wellness approaches and training for clients to better serve them.
