Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Logans and Shanae Davis.
Hi Candace and Shanae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Candace Logans an Occupational Therapist for over 8 years of experience. I am Shanae Davis a Physical Therapist for over 11 years of experience. We met at our very first job a rehabilitation hospital, where the demand, various medical conditions/diagnoses, and fast pace experience built the excellent foundation we have now. We are wives, mothers, friends, sisters, and we love to laugh! To be completely honest, Its All Fun Therapy Services simply started as 2 young females wanting to figure out how to make extra money in a short amount of time to pay off our student loan debt. We both have a background in therapy and love to help people gain their independence. We explored so many different avenues with therapy not wanting to be one. This went on for a year. We contacted a colleague to ask questions on how to start a business and bill insurance for a future endeavor. That’s when she laid it all out for us. We will never forget her telling us “It took me a year, but since it’s two of you, y’all most definitely can get it up and going in 6 months.” The next day we were filing for our LLP. 7 months later we were overwhelmed with the flood of clients we received. We will always be grateful for her guidance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly yes it was smooth! God placed people in our path to assist with each step of the process and we were able to walk out the steps rather smoothly. While waiting for our credentialing with various insurance companies, we started to question ourselves and the process. The most frustrating part was the approval process, making sure the right paperwork got to the right person within the proper timeframe. That was the biggest headache prior to accepting our first clients. Once we reached the part of accepting clients, referrals were coming in so fast, that the caseload was being built right before our eyes. We needed help fast. Thankfully 3 beautiful assistants joined our team and our clients’ families absolutely adore them. Now that we are 8 months in, we will say the biggest struggle is managing the business as owners as well as being a treating therapist. Our first love is therapy, being right in the middle of it. But because this is our baby, we have to carve the time to run it as well. Finding the balance is something we are still trying to figure out.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a team of pediatric occupational and physical therapists. Occupational therapy helps address deficits in fine motor skills, visual-motor skills, coordination, upper body and core strength, and sensory deficits. Physical therapy helps address deficits in gross motor skills, coordination, and lower body and core strength. We specialize in helping children achieve independence in everyday life as well as assist their families in supporting these efforts. We are known for our unique ability to connect with our families in a manner that allows them to feel comfortable and safe. We are most proud of the support we have received from the community, entrusting us to care for these sweet babies as well as make recommendations that will allow for independence for the child and encouragement to the families. What sets us apart from others is our unique eye to treat the whole client, not just the disability or impairment they may present to us. Also, the ability to say “we don’t know or we are not sure. But I will find some other resources or people who can help.”
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters the most is watching the progress our clients make and the excitement we see not only from the child but from the family when they are able to reach their milestones. Being able to educate our parents on how to be more intentional in helping their children from the smallest to the biggest changes allows them to be active participants in the process. We promote the highest and safest level of independence with “Fun” being the icing on the cake.
