Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Walton.
Hi Brianna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a Registered Nurse, nature lover, and community health activist. I’ve been a nurse for a number of years now and have had quite the career! I started out working in a hospital on a surgical-trauma step-down unit before I started my career as a travel nurse working at various different hospitals and community sites around the country. My travels led me to the Bay Area, California where I eventually ended up living for 3 years. During that 3 years, I went back to school and received my Masters’s degree in Systems and Population Health Nursing. Throughout my career working in public health and in the clinical setting, I noticed a gap in healthcare. There wasn’t enough being done on the forefront to prevent our community from becoming chronically ill, and on top of that, the communities most affected by the chronic disease were the black and brown communities. I felt that as a millennial, there needed to be more of an effort from our generation to create more “out of the box” and effective ways to attract our communities and inspire them to want to live healthier lives, thus Asé (Au-shay) Essentials Holistic Wellness and Medical Spa was born. Asé Essentials is an Aesthetics and Wellness service that focuses on healing from the inside out while boosting the self-confidence of our clients at the same time. We believe in empowering and educating our clients so that they have the tools necessary to achieve their ultimate health, wellness, and beauty goals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has been everything BUT smooth. I have not only had to learn how to operate a business in the medical industry but I had to learn an entirely different specialty in the nursing profession while moving across the country, simultaneously. I felt it was imperative to launch this endeavor in my hometown as it is the place that gave birth to me and as Charlotte is going through a very unique transition right now of renewal and growth, I wanted to be a part of that growth and help propel my community towards a community of health, wellness, and beauty.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the culture! I’ve traveled and lived in different cities across the state and around the country and nothing compares to the community, love, and liveliness that Charlotte possesses. After spending three years away from Charlotte, I’d have to say I really dislike the traffic!
