Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pearson.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I were determined to start our own business, we had several influential people in our life that helped us come to the decision that a party bus would not only be fun but would also be a safe transportation option. We spent over 2 years researching and during that time we lost a loved one due to a drunk driver, that’s when we finalized our decision and decided to embark on this adventure. We wanted to offer an affordable option to our city to help people make it home safe without question.
We bought our bus and we had it transformed into The Black Diamond LX within a year and once we were fully insured and compliant we were ready to start, but as we were getting ramped up marketing Covid 19 struck and we were in a position that was unsafe to operate. Then state by state we were on shut down. During the shutdown it was very stressful we had done everything right but couldn’t operate safely so we had many days of questioning did we make a mistake did we choose the wrong field will we be able to make it through this.
We finally got the clear to operate in 2021 and hit the ground running starting over with marketing and putting our business out there. It took a bit for people to find us as we didn’t pay for marketing or advertising, we wanted to build this business organically ourselves and that we have along side word of mouth from our customers. We are proud to be in our 7th year of business and our 6th year of operation and we are thriving. Most customers refer to us as a hidden gem they were so glad to find with many customers returning yearly and we appreciate each and everyone of them more then they know.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As mentioned before Covid 19 really took a toll on us but we were able to make it through to the other side.
Commercial Insurance is expensive and finding the right company was a struggle but we found them and have been with them from the start
Also making sure we were compliant with state regulations wasn’t easy at all it’s kind of sad the information isn’t just readily available for this line of work you really have to study up and learn the laws and requirements along with regulations to operate legally and no one in the business is willing to help coach because your a rival or threat to them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our business is a safe and reliable way to be sure you and your loved ones make it home safely rather you and your friends are wanting a fun night out and don’t want to worry about driving or having a “DD” designated driver so everyone can enjoy and relax and rest assure you are in good safe hands or if you have high schoolers heading to prom they all get to ride and celebrate together safely in style with transportation the party moves with but the safety remains the same, all the way to young kids celebrating a birthday or something big no matter what the occasion you don’t have to worry about anything because Black Diamond LX will pull you up like a VIP every time. Our prices tend to set us apart but our driver is what really puts the cherry on top his driving experience and his humor yet seriousness helps everyone feel safe and took care of. We are not your normal corporate ran transportation business we are family owned and operated and that’s what helps us stand out.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think what has made the business what it is is my husband and myself always doing our best and not giving up we have dreams and aspirations and we don’t take that lightly we work hard together to build not only for our future but for generations to come. We have worked hard for everything we have accomplished. We didn’t have inheritance helping us we didn’t have family wealth helping us and we didn’t have anyone to invest in our dreams we only had each other. We had to get up everyday and put in blood sweat and tears and build from the ground up and we did. We still are. We have much more to conquer.
