Today, we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Oberhaus. Amanda was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Kim Russo.
Hi Amanda, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was a dancer through college and went on to dance in the NBA. Growing up I always taught dance as well and always had a love for coaching and helping others. As a professional dancer I got really into various types of training and found a love for all things fitness. I started to have friends and family ask me to create programs for them so I decided to get certified as a personal trainer through NASM. Over the years I continued to add certifications like group fitness, wellness coaching, nutrition and some others. I started out as the type of trainer that was focused on the physical effects of training…. losing weight, clothes fitting better, etc. In 2017 we very unexpectedly and tragically lost my dad to suicide. My entire outlook on life, my career and wellness completely shifted. I began exploring how all realms of our wellness are connected to each other. The mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. I continued to expand my certifications and reframe my approach to coaching, adopting a very holistic and comprehensive approach to creating a balanced life. That’s where my business OberFit was eventually born, a play on my last name. My goal is to educate and empower others on the interconnections of their wellness and how to create their most fulfilled life.
Please tell us more about your brand, Oberfit
I’m a fitness, finance and wellness coach. After losing my dad to suicide I chose to channel my grief in to a powerful force for positive change in individuals, businesses and the community. I strive to raise awareness about mental health and promote strategies for well-being. I help individuals with a holistic approach to their wellness by looking at the WHY behind the changes they want to make. Maybe an individual comes to me with physical fitness goals and after the onboarding process we discover that they want to work out to alleviate stress and with a deeper dive we discover how finances are really creating the stress and the desire to work out. With that client, I also became their financial coach, using my licenses to also explore financial strategies to meet their goals. Within the community I do similar work with businesses and also put on community centric events partnering with local non-profits. I used to worry about my age within the industry, but that is something I’ve become very proud of. I’ve experience a lot of life, gone through my own challenges which have truly provided me with certain life experience and understanding. I’m not only what I’ve been able to help my individual clients achieve but also the footprint I’ve had the privilege of making on the community.
Kim Russo and On Brand Designs, Inc. have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Kim Russo and On Brand Designs, Inc. and your experience with them.
First, I adore Kim. I first met her at a wellness retreat and we very quickly connected. She’s the kindest, most genuine and selfless person I’ve met in a long time. She’s an incredible business woman and friend. She has a passion combined with true talent and eye for design. When I sat down with her about my business I was totally scatter brained. I had lists of name ideas, color schemes, web ideas and couldn’t reign myself in. In a matter of minutes after sitting down with Kim, there was a clear vision and plan. She is the brain behind my business identity and made everything come to life! I honestly don’t know if I would have started my business when I did if it wasn’t for Kim and On Brand Designs. Not only did she create a vision but she believed in my mission. Kim listens and brings ideas to life. I have her to thank for getting over the fear of starting and believing in what I have to offer with my business! I can’t imagine trusting anyone but her and On Brand Designs with my vision and life to my business.
