The road to becoming a business owner has been good, but not always easy. There are months where you are booked back-to-back, and then other months where you only have 1-2 bookings. The struggle of finding my niche in the beginning was difficult and I had to learn who my customer was.
Having a business looks glamorous from the outside looking in, but it’s all the behind-the-scenes tasks that are tough. Late nights, early mornings, licenses, insurance, and everything you don’t see is something I had to adjust to. Every event is a learning experience, I’m always adjusting contracts and policies, and always updating my menu. It’s more than just working a 9-5, sometimes it’s an all-day type of thing.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am always studying and researching when it comes to my business. I love taking inspiration from social media and other chefs. I love getting feedback from clients on what they love and also what I can improve of. My goal is to be the best me and not compete with others.
My favorite TV show is Top Chef. I love seeing the different contestants from different areas with different backgrounds. Seeing them interpret the different challenges, but also putting their signature on each dish is always what I aspire to do.
