Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Star Withers.
Hi Rachel Star, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Entertainer, international speaker, video producer, and schizophrenic. Appeared on MTV’s Ridiculousness, Marvel’s Black Panther, “Goliath: Playing with Reality” alongside Tilda Swinton, TUBi’s #shockfight, and is the host of HealthLine / Psychcentral podcast “Inside Schizophrenia.” I grew up seeing monsters, hearing people in the walls, and having intense urges to hurt myself. I create videos documenting my schizophrenia and ways to manage it and let others know they are not alone and can still live a fantastic life.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most of the time, I have no idea what I am doing, but all that matters is that I am doing something. I have about ten separate projects, and I always cook at the same time. When I hit a wall with one, I bounce to a different project and need to step back to think or see it from a new perspective. Obstacles dealing with my schizophrenia are a constant juggling act but also the real world. Money issues plague everyone. Evolving tech is excellent, but keeping up with it is exhausting.

I create media. I am proud of a comic book line for kids that I made available on Apple Books as a free download. “The Adventures of ______” Each one showcases a different child with a mental disorder as they learn ways to manage it and then help others. Those comics are a happy space for me. But I am mainly known for doing stupid stunts and being on MTV’s Ridiculousness. I started filming myself doing stupid stunts when I was twenty, and it grew to be performing on various TV shows and getting into real stunt work.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I am constantly moving and doing something. I expect failure, which is fine because it is a learning experience.
