Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Davis.
Hi Melissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
As a mother of 7, I’ve always taken care of people. It’s my passion to help & be of good service to those I care about. So as my family needed me less as they got older and grown. I still desired to help others. I leaned towards esthetics to help others with their skincare. So, I went back to school at Southeastern Esthetic Institute. I juggled homelife, 2 different family members fighting cancer, and losing my grandparents while pursuing this dream. I had every reason to give up, but I also had the desire and the passion to make a difference too. So, I kept pushing in memory of my very strong-willed grandmother as a legacy to her. A lot of saving, planning, and sacrifice went into my dream to start the first woman-owned and operated business in my family with no investors or backers. I’m not the most expensive spa in town and I never want to be! I offer skincare to everyone, to help everyone of all ages, gender, race & religions. If I can educate or inspire anyone on how to properly care for their skin, then this journey will of all been worth it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Financially it’s been a struggle, after going into my local bank I was shot down without even having my credit pulled. In that moment I was made to feel embarrassed for asking about a minority loan as a woman. Never Assume Just because your a Minority you will qualify for special grants or loan privileges. That’s a Huge Misconception, so it’s important to be realistic with yourself when planning to open your own business. I faced adversity with shutdowns. Opening a business in a time period of Covid when some were closing down. Some weren’t thriving and the fear of not knowing if this was going to be known of before we’d in turn have to shut down permanently as well if the business didn’t thrive.
There were days with 13 clients and days with not one at all. Growing a business isn’t for the faint of heart.
We’ve struggled with people not knowing all the benefits of the Himalayan salt room, and getting the word out in our community. Himalayan salt is a healing practice that’s been practiced for thousands of years.
So now I’ve turned my fears into a new positive approach “Face Everything And Rise” I gave my worries to God and my trust is in him to lead me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

How do you define success?
Success to me is enriching others’ lives by my service to them. I know you can go to your hairstylist and get a new color, perm, & hairstyle. You can get your nails done in any color. You can buy a new outfit for every day of the week. But at the end of the day, you can’t take off your skin! It’s the one thing that stays with you unconditionally, it’s the largest organ your body has. So, it’s essential to take care of it for it to last you. My success is to help everyone feel great about their skin! With success everything else comes and goes, but if I can make everyone feel beautiful in their own skin. Then that is success to me.
