Life & Work with Levi Harrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Levi Harrell.

Hi Levi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a love for music but I was afraid to express myself melodically as it’s a very vulnerable space for me. Especially, because I have become known as being a very authoritative, high-energy, declarative intercessor. Literally, being privileged to lead thousands across the world. However, that’s what’s seen publicly, but it comes from a very intimate space with God privately that took years of cultivation.

Moreover, my whole family is musical and I was always intrigued by it. However, I never thought I’d actually take the leap. After becoming a 2x # 1 Best Selling Author, Coach, and being blessed to travel the world (As a preacher/Teacher/Host) I started feeling a tug to release the melodies I kept hearing in my head. Thus, before I would preach/teach, or lead major conferences in intercession, God told me to start singing my prayers and/or chanting the word of the Lord.

Terrified, (wondering will I hit the right note? Will people look at me as crazy? Will the band be able to follow my random ideas?) I started doing publicly what I’ve been doing privately for years.

Sweating bullets, getting lost in the moment, Id open my eyes in amazement at what God did. I’d see whole families holding each other in tears. On their knees crying out to God singing these un-pined, unplanned, prophetic songs.

I would go back to my hotel room, feeling completely spiritually open thanking God for what He did and hoping He was pleased with me.

Fast forward, some very kind people, who I would meet on the road or connect with via social media, would send me the audio recordings of those moments and I would sit with God and begin to write lyrics laced with bible verses to these songs.

I’ve been writing for a few years now but I finally mustered up the strength to complete them and I released my first single “Prevail” on April 14th, 2022. (Which is available on all streaming platforms.)

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh no, I’ve run into several stumbling blocks along the way. be it personally or professionally. On a professional level, I’ve had people mock me and not take me seriously. I’ve had people start to work with me and then totally stop communicating with me. Then of course this further hits your ego so I began to self-sabotage. However, I knew I had to get it out. In fact, the lyrics of my song “Prevail” say it best… “They will fight against me, but they shall not prevail against you. For you are with me. With you, I prevail.”

These numerous struggles that once burdened me turned and built endurance in me. Producing great strength. Now, instead of getting upset, I go to God and I grab my pen and release it through my songs.

I no longer look at struggles or pain as a sign to stop. I look at it as an opportunity to shift gears and push forward. In fact, it also let me know that I was trying to collaborate and build with the wrong people. I was trying to work with people that I considered to be friends (trying to keep it in the family) but God was like, NOPE! Now, I have a team of people that I work with that are phenomenal, skilled, and geniuses in their craft.

So, I think it’s safe to say every obstacle is simply a blessing in disguise.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
This is interesting because this is my first time introducing myself a songwriter and singer publicly! So here we are! (lol) All jokes aside, I have a responsibility to be sensitive to the sound of an era as well as usher in new sounds of an era. For example, the ’70s had a sound. The ’80s had a sound. The 90’s and so on.

So now it’s my turn to hear, and make a contribution to the era we are in now. In doing so, I have no desire to sound like anyone else or mimic any trends. My goal is to be a creative writer/singer with a message of hope, faith, and empowerment.

I am ultimately a communicator. So, I will continue to preach, teach, and write books but I am now communicating musically as well.

In terms of what sets me apart, I am simply having fun and following my gut. Meaning, I am in no competition, I am not looking to be famous or play the music industry game that consumes so many people. I just want to express my art. obey God and let the chips fall where they may.

I will continue to turn my prayers into songs, and flow! In terms of what I am most proud of, I am proud of myself for taking the leap of faith! as of this moment, my song “Prevail” is streaming in 12 countries (United States United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, France, Japan, Dominican Republic, Italy, Poland, Barbados, Bermuda, India) and I’ve had not major backing, celebrity indorments, record deal or anything! God is doing this and I love that fact that no one can get the credit but God!

What do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in favor and favor has played a major role in my life. Of course, accompanied by hard work, discipline, and focus!
