Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaycee Resngit.
Hi Kaycee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started with my passion for collecting ceramics and my husband Mark’s encouragement to take my first pottery class. In early 2019, I took a 6-week beginner pottery wheel throwing class, and after that, I am primarily self-taught. Because I work as a full-time Physical Therapist, I only devoted part of my time to pottery. I started showcasing my creation on Instagram and shared my passion for the whimsical art integrated with my ceramics, and the rest is history.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The early part was always the hardest; it was the time I was trying to explore different designs and themes that felt like home. One day, I got inspired by an early childhood memory of fairies, specifically by Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies, which I incorporated into my work and eventually found artist friends I collaborated with. Today, I paint my art on my pots, a slow and enduring process filled with so much love and enjoyment.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love making mugs among all. I specialize in whimsical wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery. There is always something special about mugs and carrying that warm cup every day that someone has poured their heart and soul into.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
my passion for art, perseverance, focus, and creativity
