Life & Work with Jessica Foster of Spartanburg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Foster.

Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Oh, where do I begin? I have always been intrigued by the power of makeup and the way it enhances natural beauty. While in school, I fell in love with doing facials, body waxing, and makeup. In 2015, I decided to learn how to become a makeup artist. It wasn’t easy, but I practiced and practiced for a year strong before I started offering makeup services to the public. I took a bunch of makeup classes and eventually became certified as a makeup professional in 2018. I later learned that in the state of SC, you have to be licensed to provide makeup services to clients. In 2020, I went to Kenneth Shuler of Spartanburg to obtain my Esthetician license, and I finished up in 2021. I am so glad I decided to go to school and add to my skill set, as I am now a Licensed Esthetician, and I have a strong passion for everything skin!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been some bumps in the road. Although I knew that I was good at what I could do, I also had to learn the business side of things very quickly. Often, I became overwhelmed with being an entrepreneur and everything that comes with it. From dealing with business finances, inventory, customer service, and demanding customers, at some points, I just wanted to quit it all. I couldn’t ignore the passion I have inside me for what I do, with many tears some days. I still pushed through. It was all worth any and every struggle that I overcame.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Licensed Esthetician, making flawless skin a reality! I specialize in makeup applications, facial treatments, and body waxing. I am known for soft, natural makeup applications, as I have been a makeup artist for 8 years. I am most proud of not limiting myself to being a makeup artist but a skincare professional. Over the last two years, my loyal clients have seen a transformation in their skin from getting regular facials, and I am proud that I could do that for them. I went from making them look good for their special event to making their skin glow daily. I am a one-stop shop for all things beauty, making it so convenient to take care of multiple needs in one appointment.

Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
My client’s satisfaction. Not only do I want them to look good, but I also want them to feel good. I go over and beyond to ensure that my client is well taken care of and satisfied with my work because I have a passion for what I do. My goal is always to work with excellence and professionalism, no matter what I feel. I never take any appointment for granted, as I know they can choose someone else. The fact that they choose me is still mind-blowing, and I am forever grateful for anyone who comes to support my business.
