Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Miller.
Hi Jeremy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Seventeen years ago, as a struggling college kid in Myrtle Beach, SC. I found myself in a nightclub helping run lights for a friend who happened to be the DJ. At the time, I didn’t know much about DJing or making music, but I quickly fell in love with it.
Fast forward to today after years of practice, trial and error, and constantly learning – I’ve played several places in the country, several places outside of the country, held residencies in many night clubs, cruise ships and played some major events with companies like RedBull, Sony, Vans, Kate Spade, and many many more.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was always rewarding but it has not been smooth by any means. For me, the drive to constantly refuel the creative flame means that other areas of my life had felt a strain at times. I’ve had to work twice as hard to maintain friendships and relationships along the way.
There was a major learning point in my life when the passion for music and performing crossed the path of also being my only job. Learning how to take that passion and create a business while still keeping it enjoyable has been both incredibly rewarding and stressful at the same time!
There’s also the strain on any type of sleep schedule that should be in place (*yawning as we speak*). The pros are so far greater than the cons but there have definitely been some growing pains as I go.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m mostly known for DJing and producing music. While there are many DJs and producers out there, I’ve made a name for myself by consistently moving any room I’m playing with my own creative touch on the music.
Always incorporating old with new across many genres – usually on two turntables. FWB stands for Funky White Boy, usually, after my sets, I always get at least one person that comes up to me and says “Okay! I get it now”
On top of DJiing, I have been producing my own edits, remixes, and originals – many played out all over the world by other performers, and some I keep to myself for my sets only. This in itself has set me apart from many others and given me a unique style people have grown to know.
What are your plans for the future?
Future plans are to keep growing, stay open-minded, and remain creative as much as possible. I’m planning to play many new cities in the upcoming year and even have a couple of countries I’ve never been to in the works. One, in particular, I am extremely excited about, I don’t want to jinx it but it starts with a J and ends with an N.
I also have a side project named Alt. Vers. that is all original soulful, nostalgic, sample-based music that I plan to launch some events for. All of the details for that are still being sketched out but I know in the upcoming year I’ll have some really exciting stuff for that project.
Music.. the future always holds more music. Much of the music is already made and just awaiting release dates!
