Today we’d like to introduce you to Eliza Gellman.
Hi Eliza, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by the notion that “food is medicine”. I was guided to healthful food choices, never for weight loss, but for nourishment. After college, I began to experience hormonal issues resulting in digestive distress, cystic acne, chronic UTI, and myriad other issues that began to affect my quality of life. I had been a certified personal trainer for a year at that point and began to help others with their nutrition, beginning courses in fitness and holistic nutrition.
In 2016, all of this was exacerbated when my mother was diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer. We lost our most prized and angelic human in October of 2017.
After my mother’s passing, I was a mess of anxiety, numbness, and chronic illnesses while knowing it was my purpose to educate and guide others to dig deep into the root of their symptoms, not just treat them.
With an intentional plant dominant lifestyle (not fully plant dominant), solid mindfulness practice, and consistent work to tap into deep-seated issues I can say with unwavering confidence this is the most balanced and aligned I have been in my life. It took my numbest, lowest, sick, and most lost moments to get here but now I am can bring a new layer of empathy and understanding to my clients and friends.
The evolution of Eliza G Wellness has been immense. Beginning with fitness, then incorporating a holistic approach to plant dominant nutrition, to expand to mindfulness work. I, the Hotter Than Health Podcast, and all we offer are just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe the previous question entails many of these struggles.
-Experiencing cystic acne, chronic UTIs, & digestive inflammation
-Hormonal imbalances and extreme anxiety
-Loss of my mother put me into the biggest learning period of my life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
