Life & Work with Chleb Ravenell

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Chleb Ravenell.

Chleb Ravenell

Hi Chleb, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a town called Mount Pleasant South Carolina. I went to Wando High School where I played football. I earned a scholarship to go to Western Michigan University, where I majored in communication. I also was on a football scholarship. I got the honors of all conference award every year that I played, then I went on to play professional football in Calgary Alberta for the CFL Calgary Stampeders after my football career was done and I retired from football.

I moved to Miami and started working in tech sales for Apple. I moved back home to be closer to my parents. And because of my family’s name and who I dated, I had the opportunity to play on a reality show called Southern Charm. That was definitely different from my norm.

I did that for about two years while also working at Apple, basically working 14 to 16-hour days between both of them last year. I went to Aerospace school and got a job as a quality engineer for Boeing which I still currently do, and I also started a few businesses, I am a partner of an app called Boti which is an application that links boats and people together.

My family has a clothing line, which I am a creative director and also I was passed down about 11 acres from my parents and I am managing that as well; most recently, I am close to launching my own tech business called ‘How to Build’ my ultimate goal career wise now is to be able to design an airplane using my technology I have created.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everything is a struggle in life, whether it’s a death, a breakup, a job loss, or a lack of opportunities.

Those are going to everybody but the main thing is, is to stay consistent, show up, and keep trying.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
The thing that I’m most proud of career-wise, is being able to switch job careers and adapt to become a strong candidate. I really had no aerospace background and interviewed well and now I created a tech company that may possibly be used by Boeing!
