Today we’d like to introduce you to Weezie Krawcheck. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Sarah Louise “Weez” Krawcheck is a social entrepreneur, artist, and model based in Charleston, SC. Weez’s working career revolves around curating ventures at the intersection of art and activism, and as her perception of the best way to make a change in the world varies, she’s found herself journeying down various entrepreneurial avenues.
After receiving her political psychology and social entrepreneurship degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Weez worked at several early start-ups to hone her business acumen and vision of how she could positively impact the world. Weez’s first business venture, Butterfly Tutoring, is a reading intervention and therapeutic art program based on the Orton-Gillingham and art therapy methodologies. Weez works online and in-person with students on the autism spectrum, with dyslexia, ADHD, ADD, and behavioral difficulties, helping them to increase both their phonetic comprehension and their confidence in their learning abilities.
While working through therapeutic art exercises with her students, Weez was able to reconnect with her artist inner child through explorations in jewelry-making, ceramics, multimedia sculpture, painting and creative writing. Weez’s art has been featured at the High Museum of Art, Bar Rollins, and Peachy Keen. Weez’s newest business venture, Craft, is a sustainable event planning company that focuses on building relationships through art, activism, fashion and technology. She and her team will launch Craft with an Alchemy-themed art show at South Carolina Society Hall on April 13th, 2024.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The hardest part of my entrepreneurial journey was getting started — taking that leap of faith and being willing and able to pivot along the way to success. Becoming accustomed to change, long days, and the occasional setback has been pertinent to my growth as a person and an entrepreneur. I learned how to fail fast and get right back on that treadmill.

Butterfly Tutoring is truly the brainchild of my social entrepreneurial experiences and childhood dreams, with the overall mission of enhancing educational equity throughout the United States. After taking courses in Art Therapy and the Orton-Gillingham method, I perfected the Butterfly method to allow for the deepest progression in information retention and emotional development for students of all ages. All Butterfly Tutoring sessions are entirely personalized to each student’s needs, learning level, and artistic leanings. With time and enhanced client-practitioner comfortability, I can ensure that every student’s linguistic and emotional development will increase exponentially.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Tenacity in pursuit. One of my first jobs was as an Outward Bound Instructor, where this conceptualization was burned into my psyche. It means actively pursuing goals and not taking no for an answer. This has been incredibly important for me to understand as I’ve encountered potential clients and partnerships, since sales is an integral part of the entrepreneurial journey.
