Inspiring Conversations with Natasha Stevens of LunaSol Holistics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Stevens.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Having been born and primarily raised in South Carolina through USC, much of what I do today is taken from the experiences that I’ve had in various roles, coupled with a globe-trotting family, and extremely well-rounded educators and friends. Family also played an important role in where I am today. Many of us left the area to pursue goals that we felt would be beneficial if we returned that knowledge back to our state. Growing up in a strict, but “overly helpful” family, as I continued my research and studies, I discovered that being the “go-to girl” for everything, and the misuse of “multi-tasking” with work-life balance to be skewed at best. What once was a “badge of honor,” meant more work and less rest. Something that I not only participated in but encouraged myself to do and be a perfectionist while at it. Don’t get me wrong: I still believe in excellence, but balance is key to true success.

After teaching Spanish and leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion teams for 17 years, it was time to retire and refocus on how I could continue serving others towards a healthy and yet authentic lifestyle that didn’t stray too far away from that.

After a horrific accident, I plunged headfirst into Holistic Health with a concentration in Women’s Well Being, Corporate Wellness, and Trauma Counseling, among other international, licensed and board-certified Life Coaching Accreditations.

I wouldn’t refer to my retirement from teaching to holistic health and podcasting as a pivot, but more of an optimization and iterations on the foundation that I already had. Getting my first doctorate degree, and now working on my second, affords me the opportunity to grow as a leader in my industry. Keynoter Speaking is something that I enjoy when it’s interactive.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Lol. Anyone who will tell you that the road is smooth on any journey, hasn’t been on a four-wheeler in the backwoods of small South Carolina towns, nor volunteered as a first responder to gather sandbags at the speed of light, food, water, supplies, and jet skis to pull people out of raging hurricane waters, repair and find shelter, or just stood on a pier praying that this one wouldn’t break.

Some of the struggles that I have faced along this journey have been not being taken seriously by the State, but fully embraced outside of it. Having to constantly remind others that this whole notion of DEI, started in Education and not Corporate America was exhausting-until it wasn’t.

Being compared to previous mentors who are extremely visible in their roles and the world from NASA to APPLE — those were the hardest things that I had to correct first internally, then externally as asked: “Why don’t we see you on the “power women” list with the women that you grew up with?”

The answer is so simple to me. I chose education-a rather less heralded but important career choice. South Carolina had and has some of the brightest students in the world. Taking students to Spain for their first time ever as the first language teacher (and graduate of USC-Spanish) would have made more than the local news, had education been placed up with tech giants and had social media, etc… had its hand in honoring unsung heroes.

One final struggle that I’ve had to overcome was this notion that I have had to “prove” that I was black, Latina, white, mixed, etc… but mostly black. That stemmed from bullying fostered by a lack of knowledge by others in High School.

Once I was able to place each of those “obstacles and expectations” in their proper places, it was then that I could focus monomaniacally on my true calling. To me, that is power. And for them, it’s grace and an opportunity to grow outside of their comfort zones. I think they’ve done a great job.

Obstacles are nothing more than opportunities wrapped in a gift that screams “open me!”

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about LunaSol Holistics?
I am a globally certified Life Coach and Holistic Health Practitioner. As the Director of LunaSol Holistics, I have the privilege of serving alongside some incredible people in this field from all over the world to give back to South Carolina. As I’ve mentioned my specializations previously, I also am a humanitarian in the process of completing novel number two.

One of the things that I am most proud of is living life out loud with the ability to bring people from different walks of life together to bridge seen and unseen divides; within genders, cultures and cooperations. Along with others under the LunaSol Holistics’ umbrella -we have helped hundreds of individuals reclaim the lives they thought that they lost.

I am also super proud of the podcast that I launched in November of 2020: Beyond The Easy: Natasha Stevens Speaks. Not because of me that I share this. The guests are all so dynamic and powerful in their own right, with a depth of information and knowledge in their respective fields, that we transcend even our tag line “The Diversity Podcast” organically.

There is a synergy in that space that can’t be manufactured. I am proud of them!

With respects to Holistic Health and what sets me apart from others, I would definitely say that my background, the life choices that I have made, the mistakes that I own up to daily, and my willingness to go above and beyond for those we serve -all while being a super-connector, recognized or not, is what sets me apart. At the beginning and the end of the day, when you come to me, LunaSol Holistics, our practitioner base, and/or the podcast-you will get white-glove treatment. However, the zinger is that we don’t handhold. To be a consultant is different than a coach. A consultant tells you what to do verbatim. A Life Coach in Holistic Health helps you to find your own areas for improvement and provides steps to help you arrive there. So, I wear two hats-both Consultant and Coach. I have had to learn how to shift gears based on client’s needs. Whatever serves their best and highest good, is what we all desire and strive for them. A lot of people have the misconception that Psychologists, Consultants and/or Life Coaches have everything all figured out and that we don’t have our own issues. That’s simply not true. We each have a strong, unbiased support and accountability base. So in essence, we get coached too. As the world evolves, so should we grow with it.

My platform is Love and Freedom, some would say, “those are harsh things” or “hard things” to actuate. I say: It is hard to stay where you are when God has so much better for you if you just release limiting beliefs—which often requires specific tools to help clients locate their own.

Placing the power back on the client as a guide serves them more than a pat on the back (while affirming their pain points is critical).

The final thing that I am most proud of and grateful for that sets me apart is that I’ve been able to do all of this with minimal to no marketing. I don’t use Facebook-yet. I’ve just hired a brand consultant. That is a huge deal. If anyone wants to know more about my services or get in cue -please know that there are guidelines that I follow much like HIPPA and that you will be treated as an individual without judgement-not a number with shame attached. For now, they can find us on Instagram as we build-out for the next 5 years.

We have some special surprises coming for not only clients but also for anyone who wishes to overcome trials, stress, anxiety, insecurity, lack of self-love, and more!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Yes! I’m so glad that you asked this question.

I have over 88 books completed from the beginning of the pandemic to now.

The most helpful ones have been:

“Black Hole Focus” by Isaiah Hankel

“The Book of Mistakes” by Skip Prichard

“Painfully Honest: The Tale of a Recovering Helper” by Kathy Brooks

All of Brené Brown’s books and Nikki Finney’s books (another amazing South Carolina Native.

Podcasts:

Startups & Business: “Beta Your Business” -co-founded by a former student.

Of course, Beyond The Easy: Natasha Stevens Speaks -because of the incredible guests!

“Morning Cup of Faith” -Brenda Epperson Moore & Shelly Anderson-Myers

“Fierce and Lovely” -Beth Bruno

“The Adult Chair” -Michelle Chalfant

Dr. Stevens has been my life coach for over 6 months. Her holistic approach to helping me unearth unresolved issues that were affecting my performance at work and at home, all worked. And you will do the work-but it’s worth every penny! I feel so much more empowered now. Some things require a personal touch. What a humble soul she is. Thank you SC Voyager!
