Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenzie Harkey.
Kenzie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I launched my company during the pandemic after I realized I wanted to pursue more meaningful work than I was doing in my previous job. What started as a side hustle idea turned into a full-time opportunity when I was let go due to a massive layoff. I knew I wanted to help people live better, as I’ve always had an interest and worked in wellness and health promotion, but now I can help people accomplish those goals by beginning with the foundation: their home.
I began Simply Dare and worked with clients by myself for several months before realizing I wanted to add team members. It’s been the best decision I’ve made for my business because it allows us to help more families in our area and make a bigger impact. I love how we can bounce ideas around and brainstorm solutions that will work best for each of our clients.
Currently, we specialize in helping busy families simplify, organize, and style their homes. We also help clients edit and pack for their moves + unpack and organize to get settled in their new home as soon as possible. We really love this aspect of our offerings as moving can be such a stressful undertaking, but we do our best to make it as seamless as possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Whoever coined the phrase, “if small business owners knew everything involved in running a business, they would never start one” was right. We’ve had a lot of success but it has come with a lot of hard lessons along the way. Learning how to plan projects and estimate correctly, communication with clients and vendors, and grow a team have all been unique challenges to lean into.

At Simply Dare, we are known for our unique approach to home organizing by putting an emphasis on an intentional lifestyle. We believe that living with purpose and meaning brings more satisfaction and joy in our lives and that has to begin at home. When we begin working with a client, our goal is to transform the way they experience their space so they can make the most out of their lives. It’s truly a joy for us to help our clients clear the excess and invite more calm into their home so it’s the relaxed haven they deserve.
