Inspiring Conversations with Josiah Bryant of The Hype Szn / J. Bryant Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josiah Bryant.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started videography/photography straight out of high school. I went to North Greenville University for a semester but then decided to come home to better my career path. I followed my alma mater Berkeley High School basketball team, throughout the whole season, to the state championship, which is when I started to embrace my business name J. Bryant Productions. I started recording high school football & basketball games to build up content on my YouTube & Instagram pages. Once I realized how much traction my business was bringing, I decided to invest into better equipment/gear. In 2019 I got my biggest opportunity from Oceanside C. Academy in Mount Pleasant, SC & they helped my business garner more success & I still work with them to this day. After that, everything just began to flow. I’ve worked with any clients, schools, companies, etc., throughout the Charleston area. I’ve even took a new path & started recording weddings, embraced my photography skills & do a lot more photoshoots on the side as well. This past summer, I decided to make a business move & change my sports page name from J. Bryant Production Sports to The Hype Szn. I have major plans for The Hype Szn in the near future to make it one of the biggest sports pages in the world. I hope to meet more content creators like myself & expand throughout the east coast in the near future!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This definitely wasn’t an easy road to get to. I would sometimes give up & get lazy with my work an create content that wasn’t up to my standards. I faced a lot of dead periods where I wouldn’t get any business. I purchased equipment that wasn’t needed & wasted a lot of money. Took some time off recording to work & save up money for gear. I took a break from school & focused mainly on my business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
“The Hype Szn” is a sports media platform based here in Charleston, SC. We record numerous sports such as football, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball &, etc. On our YouTube page, you can find our full game content & soon, the Hype Szn Challenges. What sets the hype szn apart from most sports media platforms is that we are true to who we are & give love to every sport no matter what it is. What I am most proud of brand-wise with the Hype Szn is that we are expanding rapidly & looking to add people to our team!

J. Bryant Productions is a multimedia platform located here in Charleston, SC as well. What to know about JBP is that we record & take pictures at all kind of events/functions. Weddings, birthday parties, company commercials, promo videos, graduation, etc.! What sets us apart from most multimedia companies is that we fit the vibe of our generation! We are young and bring a new vibe to media. What I am most proud of brand-wise is that we are finally bringing in more wedding clients, which was a main goal of mine last year. We offer wedding packages, sports, pictures, & plenty of more anything that you want captured; we got you covered.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My biggest supporters probably have been my friends RJ, Tyrek, Ashlyn, & Paris; they always support me with everything I do & look out in different ways possible. Of course, my family. My biggest clients have always been Oceanside C. Academy & Tom Harris. They always find a way to keep me booked & always choose me as their number 1 outlet when it comes to videos.
