Inspiring Conversations with Jason Cipriano of Palmetto Pump House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Cipriano.

Jason Cipriano

Hi Jason, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Charleston on the eve of 2021 after recently quitting my corporate job. I came here without a plan, living off my retirement, but my intuition took me in the right direction. I began managing the gym I was working at, where I quickly realized my calling. Through that space, I could help people make positive changes in their lives and foster a community. The stars aligned when my business partners and I implemented our plan and started Palmetto Pump House.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
In hindsight, it was smooth due to always having the belief and the know-how, but it has been the most challenging, grueling, and rewarding experience of my life. My business partners and I always joke about the art of pivoting because, since the beginning, it has enabled us to persevere and turn lemons into lemonade.

As you know, we’re big fans of Palmetto Pump House. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
Palmetto Pump House is Charleston’s premier strength training facility for all disciplines, offering personal training, physical therapy, 24/7 open floor format, state-of-the-art equipment, saunas, and much more! A large part of our mission is to make it accessible to all skill levels and types of athletes. Our community is unique and healthy because our doors are open to everyone! I pride myself in being welcoming and hospitable and maintaining an environment where folks can be seen, feel heard, and, above all else, feel comfortable embarking on what can be an intimidating journey! Luckily, we’re all in it together. I am very proud of how welcoming and friendly our members are. The gym is often a people rather than a place, and our members brilliantly exemplify that.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how Charleston is filled with transplants! Living here, you can meet folks from all over the country. It’s also excellent; I’m a sucker for Sullivans. What do I like least? Having so many good restaurant options, trying them all is impossible!
