Inspiring Conversations with Gillian Gossow of Bad Girls Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gillian Gossow.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was a private and corporate yoga instructor for over 8 years in Manhattan before moving to Charleston, SC. I had grown bored with teaching nothing by private clients every week and so I started the company Bad Girls Yoga, which specializes in private group Namaste then Rosè classes! Charleston is the perfect fit for these lighthearted, fun classes that can be booked in groups of 3 or more and tailored around the client’s schedule.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The community here embraced the concept of Bad Girls Yoga very quickly! There’s nothing like it in Charleston. Being the new kid in town always has its challenges but with the right mentality and effort, I was able to fit in with the city very nicely.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Private small group classes that feature Namaste then Rosè. These classes are fun, lighthearted and always end with a Rosè toast!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Moving to Charleston after 13 years in Manhattan was terrifying! I knew absolutely no one, I had no clients and I had never even been to the city before. I wanted a change, and I figured anywhere I went would be a giant leap into the unknown.

When you have nothing to lose you have everything to gain! Moving here I HAD to make this work. There was no other option. That mentality is what I believe led me to succeed.
