Inspiring Conversations with Christopher Chapman of The Teddy Peddler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Chapman.

Hi Christopher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I spent my early years playing traditional golf in NE Ohio, where I grew up working in the Pro Shop environment and playing golf with my grandpa. In 2009, I moved to Myrtle Beach to attend the Golf Academy and during my time here, I began working at the PGA Tour Superstore – the largest golf retail store in the country. With my history, the transition to disc golf was quick. It took only a few rounds for me to begin collecting discs. In 2018, I began running disc golf events in Myrtle Beach. I quickly realized the community’s passion for the sport and quit my job in 2019 to focus solely on disc golf and chase the dream of owning my own store

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Considering my work history, the operational side of the business has been generally straightforward. Other than some normal and expected hiccups in the very beginning (and one very anxious wife), the road has been surprisingly smooth. I feel very grateful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
During the past two years, the disc golf scene has exploded, and to be honest, the stars seemingly aligned to bring me where I am today. The Teddy Peddler is the first Disc Golf Pro Shop in the Grand Strand and I am thrilled to find myself exactly where I had dreamed of being several years ago. I hope to further help grow the sport within the Myrtle Beach community and to help bring a fresh-unique experience to every player on the course.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Spending summers playing golf with my grandfather sun-up to sun-down.
