Hi Chad, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started building my real estate portfolio 8 years ago and had yet to learn how the process landed me in a home. I did what the agent told me to do and followed the steps trusting the professional. 5 years later, on the second transaction, I was a little more involved and noticed that a void between the inspector and client was there during the home inspection process. I owned two homes and still needed to learn how my home functions and the proper maintenance required to retain or gain equity. I took it upon myself to gain the additional knowledge to provide for myself and others, especially 1st time home buyers. The last 2 years have been filled with hours of dedicated learning on how a home is built and the components that help it function. As of today, we are committed to staying on top of the never-ending changing of building requirements and helping others with similar backgrounds better understand their potential investment.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t been smooth at all, but very much enjoyable. I’ve been self-employed for 8 years, and the adrenaline you get from starting at zero is unmatched by anything I’ve ever done. My biggest obstacle is adapting to social media and the awkwardness of putting myself on display in front of my peers. I’m not the type for constant posting, but when it comes to business, I am okay with looking for any way to get in front of my target audience—besides that, I have a clear understanding of building construction knowledge. Things are always changing, and no two homes are alike, so that keeps home inspections new every day because it’s impossible to know it all in this industry.
